The Thriller Series (PN-2): Eleanor Nordyke and her daughter Mary in Africa in the 1960s?

Mary Ellen Nordyke-Grace appears to have been born on September 30th 1953.

She is the eldest daughter of the late Eleanor Nordyke.

Evidently in the 1960’s she (Mary), somewhere between the ages of 7 thru 16, traveled internationally, and on more than one occasion, with her family on what she calls family camping trips abroad.

She said so herself at the Stanford University website:

My degree in French reflected a love of international travel fostered by family camping trips abroad in the ’60s…

That’s an excerpt from the alumni profile of Mary Ellen Nordyke-Grace (BA ’75 French, BS ’77 CEE).  The link to the profile is now nonfunctional:

Did Eleanor Nordyke and her family, including her daughter Mary, travel to Kenya or anywhere else Africa in the early 1960’s?

We already know (see yesterday’s report, PN-1) that Eleanor Nordyke traveled to Africa in the 1950’s.  She even worked in an African country, Morocco (called the French Protectorate in Morocco back at the time when Eleanor was first there).

In August 1961 when Barack Obama was born in Mombasa, Kenya the young Mary Nordyke (Eleanor’s daughter) would have been seven (7) years old (almost 8).

In 1961 the Nordykes and Stanley Ann Dunham were both living in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Mary’s father, Dr. Robert Allan Nordyke, had joined the Straub Clinic (Hospital) in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 11, 1960 (photo below is from 1958):

Straub_Clinic_1958

We even know where the Nordykes lived in Honolulu, Hawaii because in 1986 their house was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The house is now called the R.N. Linn House (also known as the Robert A. and Eleanor C. Nordyke Residence). The Nordykes bought the place in 1960.

Did the Nordykes assist Stanley Ann Dunham with her travel to Kenya in 1961?

Did the Nordykes themselves (or at least some of them, including Mary) travel to Kenya or anywhere else in Africa in 1961?

The Thriller Series (PN-1): African explorer Eleanor Nordyke dead at age 86 in Honolulu, Hawaii (2014)

Eleanor Nordyke (born Eleanor Louise Cole) passed away on January 17th 2014 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

She was born on June 15th 1927 in Los Angeles, California.

As most readers already know her twin daughters were born at Kapiolani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 5th 1961.   You can view their birth certificates here:

Susan Elizabeth Nordyke (Bell)  and  Gretchen Carter Nordyke (Worthington)

Eleanor also went by the name Ellie.  She earned a five-year nursing degree at Stanford University in 1950.  She married Robert Allan Nordyke on June 18th 1950.

Eleanor was similar, in many ways, to Stanley Ann Dunham (Obama’s mother). For example, Eleanor was adventurous and she too traveled to Africa.

Eleanor traveled to Africa (and even worked there to help further finance her travels) in her early twenties and she did so on a shoestring budget.

This was approximately ten (10) year before Obama’s mother made her way to Kenya where her son Barack Hussein Obama II was born.

After Eleanor married Robert Nordyke she suggested to him that they take off for an entire year to travel around the world.

They decided that they first needed to save $2000.  They decided to pull double and triple work shifts.  After they’d saved the said amount of money they headed off to Europe, Africa and the rest of the world.

Eleanor (Ellie) and Robert (Bob) visited all over Europe on a budget of two dollars ($2) a day.

They also traveled to Africa and while they where there they worked for three (3) months at a United States Air Force base (Nouasseur Air Base) in Casablanca which at that point in time was located in what was called the French Protectorate in Morocco.

After three months of work in Casablanca they continued their trip around the world.

Eleanor Nordyke’s obituary, which doesn’t mention anything about her time in Africa, can be viewed at the following two links.  It appears that Hawaiians share something in common with Kenyans, they both seem to have a penchant for misspelling names:

Eleanor Cole Nordyke – February 12th, 2014 – Honolulu Star-Advertiser

Are Dinesh D’souza’s parents from Kenya?

Dinesh D'Souza parents migrated from Kenya to India
According to Juma Kwayera, a Senior Writer at Standard Media Group in Kenya, in his September 5th 2014 Obama hater faces two years in prison, Dinesh D’Souza’s parents migrated from Kenya to India.

Is this true?

There’s not much information, that I could find, available online regarding Dinesh’s parents.

According to William R. Macklin, Inquiere Staff Writer, in his October 29th 199Beneath The Skin Of Dinesh D’souza, the name of Dinesh D’Souza’s father (an engineer) is listed as Allan and his mother (a homemaker) is listed as Margaret :

Dinesh D'Souza parents Allan and Margaret 1995

According to one of Dinesh’s books, The Virtue Of Prosperity: Finding Values In An Age Dinesh D'Souza father Allan D'Souza 1933 2000Of Technoaffluence (2000), his father Allan was born in 1933 and passed away in 2000.

According to a book written by Helen Zia and Susan B. Gall, Notable Asian Americans (1995), Dinesh D’Souza was born into a family of Catholics, a minority religion inDinesh D'Souza father Allan executive Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals 1995 India, and that his father (Allan) was an executive at Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceuticals and that his mother (Margaret) worked in the home.

Do you believe that Dinesh D’souza’s parents migrated from Kenya to India?

Documentary by Richard Syrett, The Birthers: Obama’s Birth Certificate

The Birthers: Obama’s Birth Certificate is a new documentary by Richard Syrett in which heRichard Syrett THE BIRTHERS OBAMA'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE interviews three (3) prominent Birthers who present evidence they claim proves Barack Obama is not eligible to be President because he does not meet the qualifications of a natural born citizen. They also argue that Obama’s birth certificate is a forgery.

Richard Syrett interviews the following individuals (I’ve linked their websites):

Attorney Mario Apuzzo

Attorney Phil Berg

Not metioned in the video but I want to point out that Berg indicates, on his website, that he’s written a book, ObamaScare.

Karl Denninger

Allenna Leonard

She mentions George Wilcken Romney and his 1968 presidential campaign which I think is fair to point out (I have myself).   However, when asked about reports, including those from Obama’s step-grandmother (Sarah Onyango Obama) in Kenya, indicating that Stanley Ann Dunham gave birth in Kenya, all that Allenna Leonard could say was this:

No one in their right mind would go from Hawaii which has a first class American medical system to give birth in a country far away that didn’t have that good of medical system.

That’s not a very objective answer and it’s nothing more than speculation.

People, especially adventurous individuals such as Stanley Ann Dunham, don’t always do things just because those things are based on rational-analytical-decision-making.

Was it rational-analytical-decision-making that made George H. W. Bush (for the record: I dislike him) decide jump out of a helicopter at 75, 80, 85 and 90 years of age?

Even if there is statistical evidence indicating that jumping out of helicopters is relatively safe (is there?) or similar data on parachute failure (not functioning correctly) you’d still have to take into consideration the following:

1.  Bush Sr. is 90 years old and even a soft touchdown from the jump could break bones. Moreover, a broken bone(s) at age 90 is a serious problem which could also lead to death.

2.  In January 2013 Bush Sr. was discharged from a several weeks stay at Methodist Hospital in Houston after being treated for bronchitis, a bacterial infection and a persistent cough where he was placed in intensive care because physicians were having difficulty controlling his fever even after the cough was mostly resolved.

At around the 7:23 minute mark there is an expanding image of what appears to be the Coast Province General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya .

There was also another expanding image at around the 6:40 minute mark of what might also be the Coast Province General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya.

Richard Syrett has worked in radio and television, in Canada, for approximately 20 years.

His weekly syndicated radio program, The Conspiracy Show, broadcasts out of Toronto on Zoomer Radio, AM 740, a 50,000-watt clear channel that can be heard from Maineto Minnesota and from northern, Ontario to the Carolinas. He also has a growing list of US affiliates, including stations in Alaska, Arizona, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, Missouri, Kentucky, New York, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.

He also hosts a television program, also called The Conspiracy Show, which is now in its 3rd season. The half-hour, documentary program, which airs across Canada and in parts of Europe and Africa, examines conspiracies, paranormal and supernatural claims and the UFO/ET phenomenon.

The best way, in my opinion, to access everything (radio and television) by Richard Syrett, in one location, is the following:

Kenyan born Barack Obama speaks at Labor Day festival in Milwaukee (2014)

Labor Day is a delicate subject and I wont get all comprehensive and thorough here but I will point out that I do agree with the following, limited, remarks by Kenyan born Obama in Milwaukee on Labor Day 2014:

“…something that sometimes the American people take for granted:

“the 40 hour work week

“overtime pay

“a minimum wage

“Weekends like this one

All that didn’t happen by accident…”

I too believe that many Americans take the above cited luxuries for granted.  Some even seem to believe that the above cited specific luxuries are somehow inherent facets of capitalism.

Over a period time luxuries such as minimum wage became a part of the legal framework in our capitalistic state (US).  However, just because you are a capitalist state doesn’t imply that you have a minimum wage law(s).

Having said that I also want to point out that business owners, or employers, don’t usually provide those luxuries to employees out of compassion for their fellow man, they provide the said luxuries because its law in the United States of America.

It should also be noted that Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and South Carolina do not have minimum wage laws of their own.

Once you leave the United States, western Europe, New Zealand and a few other select places on the globe this is what you will find (and I have personally worked under these conditions) in other capitalist states:

1.  Minimum wage does not exist.

2.  IMPORTANT (read carefully)Minimum wage may exist but is not, not even remotely, by any interpretation or inference, sufficient to sustain life.

You might ask, “If it’s not enough to sustain life then how do these people survive?”

Answer:   They supplement their income by hunting elephants for their tusks (cruel in the minds of the fat and overfed Americans and western Europeans), they cut down their forests, they overfish the river and seas (I’m serious, I like to fish and I know places where you can’t catch anything due to overfishing), they liter (being trendy and saving the earth doesn’t mean much to a person who is hungry, on a tight schedule and living in a place where you can’t even drink the water from the faucet), they use others and lie to family and friends to get ahead, they skim from any source available (e.g., Coca Cola delivery driver skims 3 bottles from each crate and clients consider it normal that each crate is always missing 3 bottles), they lie to their boss or employer, they allow their daughters to marry at age 14, they allow their children to work at ages as young as 6 rather than go to school, they commit crimes, they murder for very small sums of money.

3.  Minimum wage may exist but in practice, regardless of how the law reads, does not exist outside of exceptional places of employment.

4.   IMPORTANT (read carefully):   Minimum wage exists but in the form that Americans are not familiar with.   Many undeveloped or developing countries do have a minimum wage but they are calculated by weeks or months, not hours.   Yes, I know, you call it a salary.  But in the United States when you think salary you think professional job.  Not here, salary is for all jobs, even scrubbing toilets.  Most minimum wages are a monthly minimum, often paid twice a month.   An example may be $200 US Dollars (or much less) per month.

There is no stipulation of how many hours may be lawfully worked per day.

There are no stipulated days off.

An employee may work 10 to 16 hours per day, and 6 or 7 seven days per week and take home $100 US Dollars every two weeks.

5.  Overtime (mandated by law) does not exist.

6.   Overtime (mandated by law) may exist but in practice, regardless of how the law reads, does not exist outside of a exceptional places of employment.

7.   A very large majority of the population does not earn more than the minimum wage.

Now, having noted the foregoing 1 thru 7, please also consider the following:

About a month ago I was having a discussion with some Americans about work in the Dominican Republic.

I told them that some people in the Dominican Republic refuse to work because when they receive their pay check (when they’ve worked in the past) they basically or essentially earned just enough to be reimbursed for what they’d spent for their lunches (or whatever meal fell within work schedule) and the money that they’d spent on public transportation and private transportation.

I stated that they worked 10 hours days and then came home tired and then woke up to it all over again and that it just wasn’t worth it.

A couple of the American women who were listening made faces and rolled their eyes and made comments to the effect that the account that I was giving sounded normal to them and they wake up to it every day in the United States.

Inside I was a little upset but I kept a level-head and, a few minutes later, politely excused myself from the discussion and made myself forget them and I quickly got back to working on my goals and enjoying time with friends and family.

I will, however, share my thoughts with readers here regarding the group of Americans.

This group of Americans were well-fed, they eat very well and apparently everyday and at anytime they desired.

They drove nice cars with air conditioning.  They have memberships at gyms to keep in shape. They have plenty of food in their refrigerators. They have electricity 24 hours a day. The water in their houses (the water faucets) can be used for drinking water.  Their houses are much larger than one-room-like-house divided into a bathroom, kitchen, two bedrooms and a living room.

When they wake up in the morning it isn’t to 90% inside-weather and they don’t have to squirm around between the bed, the kitchen stove, the dresser, make their way to a barrel of water, fill up a bucket, then wiggle over to the bathroom, use an empty “I can’t believe it ain’t freaking butter” container to dump water over their body and brush their teeth, then dress themselves with cloths that were washed by hand, then unlock the padlock on their front door, walk quickly down out down the street where the “non-workers” often woke up early (it’s strange, not an American thing) only to meet and ask (insist) that the “workers” loan them a 50 cents or a dollars (and if you don’t…you may get a lip busted), then you hop into a old minivan with doors torn off and then squish your body between 30 other bodies in a van designed for 9 or 10 bodies.

Then there’s work part: at very least 9 hours a day, and typically 10 or 12 hour a day, no less than 6 days a week, and earn the minimum wage of $200 US dollars per month.

Then they make their way home, and if its dark outside in becomes all the more dangerous.  They make it home and then dump a few more buckets water, and one for the toilet because that’s how it flushes.   They smack several mosquitoes to their deaths and maybe if they have a wife or a husband they make love and then they falls asleep and get a 4 or 5 hour sleep and then wake up and do it again.

The workers age quickly (inward and outward) and many die of old age at around 50-55.

AND THEY DO IT ALL WITH A SMILE AND UPLIFTING MUSICAL SOUNDS!

I don’t think that this particular group of Americans whom I was having a discussion with, last month, could handle more than a week of that above referenced way of life and wouldn’t be surprised if they took their own lives (i.e., suicide) if they were ever subject to an everyday life of the above referenced way of life.

Btw:

Obama also closed with a good joke, and it was true:

“Every gray hair (Obama’s) is worth it…and at least I (Obama) still got some hair”

If you are a bald guy, its pretty hard to call someone else out for their gray hairs.

Hospital birth certificates are real birth certificates and official records of birth.

Bernard “Bernie” Madoff, who is now serving 150 years in federal prison for fraud related criminal convicitions, was born at the Beth Israel Medical Centre in New York City.Bernie Madoff US Department of Justice picture 2009

In December 2011 his hospital birth certificate (with footprints) was auctioned at a website called GottaHaveRockandRoll.com

The minimum or starting bid was $5,000.00 and on December 10, 2011 the hospital birth certificate sold for $5,500.00.

The certificate of birth contains affixed baby footprints (left and right), embossed (raised) seal, signature of physician in charge,  signature of medical director, full names of mother and father, dates and places of birth of mother and father, weight of child at birth (7 pounds and 8 ounces), sex of child, certificate number (3452) and thumb prints (left and right) of mother.

Here are a few pictures of Bernie Madoff’s birth certificate which sold for about the same price that I paid for Barack Obama’s Coast Province General Hospital certificate of birth:Obama birth certificate offical legal record a Obama birth certificate offical legal record b

Tara Wambugu, formerly Tara Jean Patenaude, born September 7th 1976, threatens legal action if we don’t take down posts regarding Obama’s birth in Kenya.

345441Tara Wambugu is an ardent Obama supporter who recently wrote, at her blog, an article titled How to: Getting a birth certificate in Kenya, about misspellings and typos being very common on birth certificates in Kenya.  She said something to the effect that one must rigorously and exhaustively check Kenyan birth certificates for errors and that Kenyans are genetically predisposed to misspelling names and other words.

In my own words, I gathered that perhaps a touch of racism was coming through in the writings of Tara Wambugu (she’s a white American woman).  After all, it happens sometimes to Americans and Brits who travel, or live, abroad.

At first they see these new cultures and societies as interesting and fun but they often begin to dislike the different way of life and invariably find themselves making it there personal objective to change and save the ‘savages’ from their ‘backwards’ culture and lifestyles.

I read some of Tara Patenaude’s other writings and it seems that she may be the epitome of these culture-haters who wish to bring change to what they believe to be barbarians and savages who populate sub saharan Africa.

Tara also wrote about the subject of having to pay bribes for Kenyan birth certificates and that this is common practice is Kenya.  She even made remarks to the effect that she was exceedingly astonished and thoroughly amazed that she didn’t have to pay a bribe for her little half American half Kenyan offspring.

We cited her article in two recent reports here at WOBIK.

Tara Wambugu filed two complaints with our web host for copyright infringement.

The first blog report has now been, voluntarily, taken down.  I don’t believe that it was necessary to take down the said report, but I did so.   I then sat down and began writing a new report and published it the following day.  Strangely, I found that I was now sort of in a way, delighted, that I’d taken down the first report because the second version of the report turned out to be very impressive and included additional research findings and a great deal more of context as to why Tara’s writings, few as they were, had been cited.

In any event, I published the new report…and then received another take down notice form our web host.  Again, it appears, I was falsely accused, by Tara Wambugu, of copyright infringement.

I quoted Tara on five occasions and average length of each quotation was a sentence or less.  As if it’s not already inherently obvious, I did so for research purposes (Was Obama Born in Kenya?), publication of research findings and news reporting.  Clearly the sort of stuff that falls under Fair use:

Fair use

I checked into Tara’s background and, judging by Tara Patenaude’s extensive educational background, its evident that she too also fully understands that anything of hers which was cited here at the WOBIK blog was covered under Fair use and that she has egregiously misrepresented her claim regarding the infringing material.

I’ve also read some disappointing accounts, which I wont cite here for fear of copyright infringement, about her and some of those who are close to Tara who have been in trouble with certain authorities in the past for misrepresented copyright infringement for financial gain.

Tara Jean Patenaude, born September 7th 1976 is the daughter of Edward Patenaude Sr and her mother is Sandra Strohman.

As you may have noticed her mother and father have different last names.   They are divorced and her father’s new wife is a person named Anne.

Tara’s grandfather was a man named Henry M. “Mike” Patenaude and he died on May 8th 2001 and his bones are located at the Tewksbury Cemetery.

The name of Tara’s grandmother is S. Regina (Sullivan) Patenaude.

In the year 2008 Tara Patenaude got engaged with a Kenyan man named Jesse Wambugu.  They married in 2010 and now she is known as Tara Wambugu.  They live in Kenya. She says that police in Kenya often allow her to break laws there because she now has a Kikuyu surname.   I’d like to cite and link the source for that allegation (it is true, she wrote about it) but I fear that doing so may invite a take down notice for alleged copyright infringement.

Someone might want to consider reporting Tara Wambugu to the US Embassy in Kenya for criminal law violations.

Mike Zullo says that Obama footprint birth certificate from Kenya is a 100% forgery

That was recorded on March 31st 2012 in Sun City West, Arizona.   The original video (which is 47:28 minutes in length) can be found here: Cold Case Posse: “Obama’s Selective Service Card poorly forged.”

A man at the press conference named Joe Bidden (evidently that’s his real name) asked Mike Zullo about a birth certificate containing Obama’s name and footprint birth which is came from the African continent.

Mike Zullo then, enthusiastically, said, Let me address that document I’m glad you brought that up, that document we know 100% certainty is a forgery. He adds, Do my a favor please stop sending it, I could paper my house with that thing.

To view the 2009 certified copy of Barack Obama’s footprint birth certificate from the African continent please click here: 1961 Kenyan Birth Certificate of Barack Hussein Obama II, Copy

Why would Zullo say that the document is a 100% forgery?  As far as I know, he’s never said why.

There are only two scenarios that I can think of:

1.    Horrible judgement call:  When Zullo was working with Dr. Jerome Corsi he blindly accepted Corsi’s erroneous position regarding the document.

My thoughts:   Dr. Jerome Corsi’s findings regarding Barack Obama’s footprint birth certificate from Kenya have been roundly discredited.   For examples you may search the WOBIK blog, FreeRepublic.com, The Post & Email and even The Fogbow.

2.    Terrible judgement call:  Zullo believes that the birth certificate is a 100% forgery because it was obtained by one Lucas Daniel Smith.

My thoughts:   If Zullo considers Barack Obama’s footprint birth certificate from Kenya to a be forgery because it was obtained by me then he must also consider this 1989 certified copy birth certificate of President George Herbert Walker Bush to also be a 100% forgery because I’ve obtained it, as well.  It contains an embossed (raised) seal, stamps, ink signature and date; its an official birth certificate. The acquisition was made in January 2013.

Bush cert 1

I request that Mike Zullo be fair, objective and that he disclose to the public why he believes, or how he claims to know, that Barack Obama’s footprint birth certificate from Africa is a 100% forgery.

American woman who gave birth, in 2014, at Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi, Kenya says that misspellings and typos are still common on Kenyan birth certificates and that Kenyan birth certificates should be THOROUGHLY checked for accuracy.

Barack Obama born in Kenya Dambisa Moyo Dead Aid Lucas Daniel Smith 2014 - CopyThe name of our website is Was Obama Born in Kenya.

We ask that question and we ask that readers consider the question as well while we present readers with our research, news reporting, criticism, comment, teaching and scholarship.

Some years ago it was pointed out that there may be a misspelling or typo found on a certified copy (2009) of Barack Hussein Obama II’s 1961 Coast Province General Hospital, Mombasa, British Protectorate of Kenya birth certificate.

You can view the said certificate of birth here: 1961 Kenyan Birth Certificate of Barack Hussein Obama II, Copy.

Over the years we’ve conducted and presented research on misspellings, typos and other errors on birth certificates and other documents.  Some examples of prior research and reporting is included directly below.

Example 1:

philadelpia

Skeptics have pointed out that Dr. Maganga’s first name (Helton or Heltan?) was misspelled on the ink stamp which is affixed to the 2009 certified copy of Barack Hussein Obama II’s 1961 Coast Province General Hospital, Mombasa, British Protectorate of Kenya certificate of birth.

Please take note of the above scan which we made of an envelope from 1957 which contains a misspelled United States Postal Service postmark. The USPS postmark spells Philadelphia as Philadelpia.

I have this 1957 postmarked envelope in my personal possession. I’m the owner and the acquisition was made in May 2011.

At some point in 2009 I began to beat the bushes for tangible historical documents and records from Kenya.  I went to work on confirming authentication of the Barack Obama’s 1961 Coast Province General Hospital, Mombasa, British Protectorate of Kenya, certificate of birth.

There’d been some controversy (which I believe has, by now, been roundly settled) over whether or not 1961-Mombasa was located in Kenya or Zanzibar.

Jerome R. Corsi (a Harvard Ph.D – Political Science 1972) published several erroneous claims at a website called World Net Daily indicating that the city of Mombasa was part of Zanzibar until some time in the year 1964 when Kenya became a republic.   Dr. Corsi indicated that hospital birth records in Mombasa, in the year 1961, would list Mombasa as being part of, or located in, Zanzibar.

[NOTE:  Dr. Corsi often edits his work after publication, sometimes a single article may be modified, on 3 or 4 different occasions, with significant edits after publication, and without any notification whatsoever of what changes have been made.]

Other skeptics who didn’t agree with Dr. Corsi indicated themselves that while 1961-Mombasa was, indeed, located in Kenya that the name or title of the area where Mombasa is located was the Colony of Kenya, not the Protectorate of Kenya.

Please take note of the above scan which I made of a Mombasa, Kenya Protectorate letter card with affixed Tanganyika Kenya Uganda 20 cent postage stamp which is postmarked 10 MY 44 (10th day of May, 1944).

I have this 1944 postmarked letter card in my personal possession. I’m the owner and the acquisition was made in March 2011.

Example 3:

There are many other examples which I’ve published in the past but the most recent example is an exceptional and first-rate one which we stumbled upon while reading about an American woman who is now living in Nairobi, Kenya.

Her name is Tara Wambugu.  She has a blog called Mama Mgeni which appears to contain posts going as far back July 2012.  The word mgeni means foreigner in Swahili.

Tara is a former emergency medical humanitarian aid worker who appears to have worked in countries such as the Congo (which one?), Uganda, Haiti, South Sudan and Uzbekistan.

She now lives in Nairobi, Kenya and is married (married 2010) to a Kenyan man named Jesse Wambugu (he’s a Kikuyu) and they have two daughters together.  The newest edition to the family was born this year, 2014.

Their daughter was born at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya on February 25th 2014.  This makes me remember Dr. Merry (or is it Marry or perhaps Mary?) Othigo who has worked at the Aga Khan Hospital.

On July 7th 2014 Tara Wambugu published an article at her blog which she titled, How to: Getting a birth certificate in Kenya. Its an interesting and thought-provoking piece and I thoroughly recommend that you read it.

In a comment below her article Tara indicated that she gave birth at a hospital, Aga Khan in Nairobi, Kenya.

In her article Tara informs the reader that in Kenya (2014), if your child was born at a hospital, the hospital sends a notification of birth to the Kenyan government (the registrar of your local City Hall) indicating that a birth took place.

She also informs the reader that the birth hospital is required to present the parents with a stub from the notification of birth before the mother is discharged from the hospital. Tara states, in all caps, (I suppose to emphasis importance), XXXXXXXXXXXX (deleted quote because of copyright infringement claim by Tara Wambugu) but something about taking special care to hold on to the stub and not misplacing or losing it!

She indicates that the registrar of your local City Hall will forward a record of your child’s birth to the Birth Registry at Bishop’s House in Upper Hill.  This makes me remember that Dr. James Ang’awa who lived in the same neighborhood, Upper Hill, in Nairobi with Barack Obama Sr. during the 1970s and up thru Obama Sr.’s death in the early 1980s.

As you may know, the Kenyan doctor who delivered baby Barack Hussein Obama II was James Oyunga William Ang’awa:

Angawa certificate name and sig

Tara goes on to inform the reader that the process of obtaining your child’s Kenyan certificate of birth will typically take about four (4) weeks or more.  Parents can then take the stub from the notification of birth (which was provided by the hospital before the mother was discharged) to the Bishop’s House and, the word which Tara’s uses is “hopefully,” you will be issued a certificate of birth for your child.

Tara also provides an excellent bit of very telling and thought-provoking advice to the effect that parents need to (her caps, not mine), XXXXXXXXXXXXX (deleted quote because of copyright infringement claim by Tara Wambugu) but something about misspellings and typos being very common on birth certificates in Kenya.  She said something to the effect that one must rigorously and exhaustively check birth certificates for errors and that Kenyans are genetically predisposed to misspelling names and other words.

It appears that Tara Wamgugu, and one of her friends (Lisa) from, or in, Kenya, were surprised that Tara didn’t have to pay a bribe to be issued a Kenyan birth certificate for her newly born child.

In a comment posted by Lisa on March 13th 2014 she indicates that when she (Lisa, not Tara) decided to give birth in America (I assume that means the United States) her first thoughts were that, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (deleted quote because of copyright infringement claim by Tara Wambugu) but was some sort of a joke about not having to pay a bribe for a birth certificate because she’s not giving birth in Kenya this time. She must be a baby-machine.  She (Lisa) also informs Tara that she knows a guy who issues (the words which Lisa’s uses are, he “types them up”) birth certificates.

Lisa goes on to state that when she used the word “bribe” she meant something small like buying lunch for the guy who types up the birth certificates.  Lisa ended her comment by telling Tara that, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (deleted quote because of copyright infringement claim by Tara Wambugu) but something about she had to break her own rule about paying bribes because it was just much too imperative and important not to pay the bribe. She also offers Tara the telephone number for the Kenyan guy of will type up birth certificates if you pay him a bribe.  She also says that she wants Tara and her Kikuyu husband and their half American half Kenyan offspring to be ok and healthy.

Tara responds to Lisa in comment posted on March 15th 2014 in which she states that, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (deleted quote because of copyright infringement claim by Tara Wambugu) but something about Tara being shocked that she didn’t end up having to pay a bribe for her newly born baby’s birth certificate, she (Tara) did not have to pay any bribes to get her daughter’s Kenyan birth certificate.  Tara ended her comment by stating, with punctuation and amazement, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (deleted quote because of copyright infringement claim by Tara Wambugu) but something to the effect that she was exceedingly astonished and thoroughly amazed that she didn’t have to pay a bribe for her little half American half Kenyan offspring birth certificate.

Conclusion:

It appears that paying bribes, contrary to what skeptics have indicated in the past, is somewhat common practice in Kenya when requesting a birth certificate.

It also appears that misspellings and typos are still, even in the year 2014, very common on Kenyan birth certificates.

Kenyan born Obama targets dairy cows and beef cattle in Iowa as being the second biggest ‘climate threat’

Barack Obama is asking Americans to believe that cows (and their diet) are causing global warming and climate change.   Here’s his evidence:

According to a paper (2008) written by Virginia A. Ishler of Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) agriculture contributes approximately 6 to 7% of the total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. Methane from enteric (microbial) fermentation represents 20% and manure management 7% of the total CH4 emitted. Ruminants (beef, dairy, goats, and sheep) are the main contributors to CH4 production.

Approximately 132 to 264 gallons of ruminal gas produced by fermentation are belched each day. The eructation of gases via belching is important in bloat prevention but is also the way CH4 is emitted into the atmosphere.

Then there is the EPA (US Environmental Protection Agencyreport, Inventory of US Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks: 1990-2004, which states that beef cattle remain the largest contributor of CH4 emissions, accounting for 71% in 2004. Dairy cattle accounted for 24% and the remaining emissions were from horses, sheep, swine, and goats. Generally, emissions have been decreasing mainly due to decreasing populations of both beef and dairy cattle and improved feed quality for feedlot cattle.

Virginia A. Ishler says that we can fix the problem with cow diets:

Dietary strategies to lower methane emissions

Some dietary practices that have been shown to reduce CH4 include the addition of ionophores, fats, the use of high quality forages, and the increased use of grains. These nutritional strategies reduce CH4through the manipulation of ruminal fermentation, direct inhibition of the methanogens and protozoa, or by a redirection of hydrogen ions away from the methanogens.

Relatively new mitigation options have been investigated and include the addition of such additives as probiotics, acetogens, bacteriocins, organic acids, and plant extracts (i.e. condensed tannins). For the long term approach, genetic selection of cows that have improved feed efficiency is a possibility. The following gives more detail about some of the strategies that reduce CH4

A.    Increasing the efficiency in which animals use nutrients to produce milk or meat can result in reduced CH4 emissions. This can be accomplished by feeding high quality, highly digestible forages or grains. However, the emissions produced in producing and/or transporting the grain or forage should be considered.

B.    Rumen modifiers such as ionophores improve dry matter intake efficiency and suppress acetate production, which results in reducing the amount of hydrogen released. In some of the published research, CH4 has been reduced by 10%, however the effect of the ionophores have been short-lived in respect to CH4 reduction. More research on the continued use of ionophores for this purpose is needed.

C.    The grinding and pelleting of forages can reduce emissions by 40%, however the costs associated with this practice may be prohibitive.

D.    Dietary fats have the potential to reduce CH4 up to 37%. This occurs through biohydration of unsaturated fatty acids, enhanced propionic acid production, and protozoal inhibition. The effects are variable and lipid toxicity to the rumen microbes can be a problem. This strategy can affect milk components negatively and result in reduced income for the producer.

I myself am a proponent of cow diets and the cow diet that I advocate is provided in the following picto-recipe (copyright protected by Lucas Daniel Smith):
