A member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors wanted to sue his own state of California because law enforcement in his part of the state are struggling to deal with the decision to become a sanctuary state.

Shawn Nelson, of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, said on “Fox News Sunday” the decision by the state legislature to prohibit local authorities from turning over illegal immigrants to federal authorities without a warrant if they are arrested puts police in a bind.

“We are put in an untenable position where our sheriff’s deputies are precluded from talking to federal authorities if they know the authorities want to pick someone up because the person is here illegally, is charged with a crime, and our people can’t even talk to the federal government unless there are some exceptions that are met, like they are a prior convicted felon,” Nelson said.

On November 13, 2012, Benjamin Pauker, the senior editor of Foreign Policy magazine, was interviewed on C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” about Obama being reelected for a second term.

Beginning at around the 1:15 mark, Pauker was extolling Obama and claimed that a recent “comprehensive” survey of 18 countries found that “across the board there’s still enormous popular support for Obama,” whom Pauker calls “really a transformational figure, a hopeful figure.” Except in two places: Pakistan and Kenya.

Pauker attributes Obama’s unpopularity in Pakistan to the raid and killing of Osama bin Laden.

Then things got really interesting.

Beginning at the 1:43 mark, referring to Obama’s unpopularity in Kenya, Pauker said, “…and in Kenya, which is funny, because it’s Obama’s birthplace.”

Pauker then realized what he has just said, so he scrambled, “… because it’s [Kenya] homeland for him. I think in Kenya, which is sort of interesting, there’s a feeling among the public that they wanted him to focus more on his ancestral home.”

Jerome Corsi’s red-hot new book “Killing the Deep State: The Fight to Save President Trump” is a runaway bestseller — but you’d never know that from reading The New York Times.

In an interview with Newsmax TV, Corsi said that he’s not entirely surprised at his book’s exclusion from the high-profile list.

“They don’t want any book that will support President Trump, who they detest, to be on The New York Times bestseller list. Even if the book legitimately outsells most of the other books,” he said during an appearance on “Newsmax Now.”

“It’s completely disgraceful and dishonest. But again, The New York Times is disgraceful and dishonest these days.”

Corsi told host Kirsten Haglund the Times is aware of how influential its list of top-selling books is. Better placement can lead to more sales, which generally garners more attention and opportunities for the author.

“So if they deny you from being on The New York Times bestseller list, they’re trying to have a suppression campaign to make sure that nobody reads ‘Killing the Deep State,'” Corsi said.

A lot of conservatives are upset that Attorney General Jeff Sessions has declined for now to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate claims of FBI abuses in surveilling the Trump campaign, and in declining to investigate the Uranium One deal, followed by well over a hundred million dollars of donations to Clinton family-controlled charities by parties benefitting from approval of that sale.  CNN first broke the story, obtaining a four-page letter that Sessions sent to Senator Grassley, and Representatives Goodlatte and Gowdy, who had requested a special counsel.

….. for the moment, at least, I see good reason for Sessions to take this position. In the letter, Sessions noted that he has asked the DOJ’s Inspector General Horowitz to investigate these matters, and, in a new disclosure, tasked US Attorney John W. Huber to investigate. Huber serves in Utah, far from the beltway, and was first appointed US Attorney by President Obama, and reappointed by Trump.

First of all, while the IG cannot convene a grand jury and subpoena witnesses outside the DOJ’s employees, Huber can. And the IG can and does make criminal referrals. There is tremendous inside expertise on the DOJ resident in the IG’s organization, meaning that there is no start-up delay and no learning curve in getting to work on abuses. So, with the IG digging up information, and referring it to Huber, further steps, including subpoenas to former DOJ and FBI employees, such as Andrew McCabe and James Comey, can be taken before a grand jury in Utah. An indictments issued by that grand jury presumably could be tried before a federal jury in Utah, whereas a special counsel would most likely work with courts in the District of Columbia, Virginia, or Maryland, beltway strongholds. Which jury pool would you prefer? The District of Columbia or Utah?

The Algemeiner reports: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met in New York City on Tuesday afternoon with around a half-dozen representatives of major American Jewish groups, The Algemeiner has learned.

According to a witness who spoke with The Algemeiner, the sit-down took place at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan and lasted for over an hour. No details about the content of the discussion were available as of press time.

The 32-year-old Saudi royal — who was named crown prince by his father, King Salman, last summer — is currently in the midst of a two-week trip to the US. Last Tuesday, the crown prince — commonly known in the West as MBS — visited the White House in Washington, DC, where he met with President Donald Trump.
