Leonard Nimoy – Climate experts and planetologists believe the next ice age is on it’s way and according to recent evidence it could be sooner than anyone had expected – 1978

Leonard Nimoy was (among many other things, including playing Spock on Star Trek) the host and narrator of the television series “In Search of…”

Above is a video excerpt (uploaded it to my InspectorSmith channel at LBRY) from a 1978 episode of that show titled, “The Coming Ice Age.”

In the featured video Nimoy states that, “What scientists are telling us now is that threat of an ice age is not as remote as they once thought. During the lifetime of our grandchildren arctic cold and perpetual snow could turn most of the inhabitable portions of our planet into a polar desert.”

Nimoy goes on to say that, “Climate experts believe the next ice age is on it’s way. According to recent evidence it could come sooner that anyone had expected,”  and that, “At weather stations in the far north temperatures have been dropping for 30 years. Sea coasts long free of summer ice are now blocked year round.”

He says that, “According to some planetologist within a lifetime we might be living in the next ice age.”

There’s also some talk about people freezing to death in their cars, hunger and more death. All of which he says would be on a scale unprecedented in all of history.

BONUS: At the end Nimoy says, “Of the nine planets in our solar system…” (Not eight planets.)

If you’re not familiar with Leonard Nimoy (maybe if you’re reading this in the future) he was an actor, filmmaker, writer, songwriter and list goes on.  He was born was 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts and died in 2015 in Los Angeles, California.

Nimoy was Jewish as were both of his parents who were born in Russia (Pre-Soviet Union).  Evidently his parents made their way from the Soviet Union to the United States (first slipping into Poland any maybe elsewhere).

Several years ago (maybe even ten years or more, I don’t remember) I acquired a copy of Leonard Simon Nimoy’s birth certificate.  It’s not an official copy but it’s a copy of an official copy:

According to Leonard Nimoy’s birth certificate (Registered No. 3983) he was born at Booth Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on March 26, 1931.

His parents are listed as Max and Dora Nimoy.  His mother’s maiden name is listed at Spinner.

Their “color or race” is listed as “W” which I think stands for White (not sure what else it could stand for).  Their birth places are listed as Russia.

Their “age at last birthday” is listed as 29 for Max and 26 for Dora.    The certificate, or Standard Certificate of Birth, is dated 1931 so I think Max was born in or around 1902 and Dora in or around 1905.

The “signature of attendant at birth” is listed as A S Troupin M D and dated March 27, 1931.   The certificate was received at the Office of the City or Town Clerk on April 2, 1931 and signed by what looks like James J. Mulvey (maybe a clerk or deputy Registrar).  The Registrar who signed the certified copy (date not listed but the number at the head of the certified copy is A731082) is shown as being Elaine B. Trudeau.
