PETA says using animals names as insults perpetuates speciesism and reinforces the myth that humans are superior to other animals and that we need to reject supremacist language

Quote from PETA’s twitter account (Jan. 26, 2021), “Words can create a more inclusive world, or perpetuate oppression. Calling someone an animal as an insult reinforces the myth that humans are superior to other animals & justified in violating them. Stand up for justice by rejecting supremacist language.”

Wouldn’t calling someone “repulsive” or a “snitch” be offensive?

Would it be alright to say I’m cooking fried “coward” tonight (rather than fried chicken)?

What about jerk chicken or jerk pig (or really it’s jerk pork), do we need to rename food itself or cooking styles?

  1. What a bitchin weird article. Human intelligence has gone to the dogs. I personally think animal metaphors are the cat’s meow. These people must be drunk as a skunk. Totally bat guano crazy. But you know? A leopard cannot change its spots and this is just laughing hyena level sarcasm. What a bunch of Baboons! And they expect us all to accept this like sheep? I say, “feed em to the sharks.” But on thing you and I always knew is that in the Audubon Zoo they have got a pride of African lions. But Obama was a just lyin African.

The bowling ball has lost it. It would have been funnier — and in rhyme — had he said Lyin Hawaiian. I guess the alleged affaire de coeur with O’rly Taitz in the dental chair of love just took the wind out of him.

    Sad.

  3. Charles Edward Lincoln III says:

And I thought the Fog had been Blown away, in the deep bosom of the ocean buried by Four Years in the Blazing Sun of New York—Donald the Orange Man Good….. But now the darkness rises and emanates as a penumbra from shadowy rocks as the dark clouds lower upon our house, starting three weeks and a day ago on January 20 as a blacker and more poisonous toad than any from Mombasa in Kenya ascends to the throne and rules over our land, from Kennebunkport through Kentucky and Kansas to Kauai….. but no, I will never insult or demean the pure waters and volcanic sands of Hawaii even to consider that 44 was born there.

  4. Charles Edward Lincoln III says:

Oh my God, I just realized, I insulted black toads! It’s even relevant to the article about PETA…. I’m so sorry! What does PETA stand for again? People Eating Tasty Animals? I forget….
