Since its founding in the 1930s, Alcoholics Anonymous has become part of the fabric of American society. AA and the many 12-step groups it inspired have become the country’s go-to solution for addiction in all of its forms. These recovery programs are mandated by drug courts, prescribed by doctors and widely praised by reformed addicts.

Dr. Lance Dodes sees a big problem with that. The psychiatrist has spent more than 20 years studying and treating addiction. His latest book on the subject is The Sober Truth: Debunking the Bad Science Behind 12-Step Programs and the Rehab Industry.

Dodes tells NPR’s Arun Rath that 12-step recovery simply doesn’t work, despite anecdotes about success.

“We hear from the people who do well; we don’t hear from the people who don’t do well,” he says.

On Alcoholics Anonymous’ success rate

There is a large body of evidence now looking at AA success rate, and the success rate of AA is between 5 and 10 percent. Most people don’t seem to know that because it’s not widely publicized. … There are some studies that have claimed to show scientifically that AA is useful. These studies are riddled with scientific errors and they say no more than what we knew to begin with, which is that AA has probably the worst success rate in all of medicine.

It’s not only that AA has a 5 to 10 percent success rate; if it was successful and was neutral the rest of the time, we’d say OK. But it’s harmful to the 90 percent who don’t do well. And it’s harmful for several important reasons. One of them is that everyone believes that AA is the right treatment. AA is never wrong, according to AA. If you fail in AA, it’s you that’s failed.

On why 12-step programs can work

The reason that the 5 to 10 percent do well in AA actually doesn’t have to do with the 12 steps themselves; it has to do with the camaraderie. It’s a supportive organization with people who are on the whole kind to you, and it gives you a structure. Some people can make a lot of use of that. And to its credit, AA describes itself as a brotherhood rather than a treatment.

So as you can imagine, a few people given that kind of setting are able to change their behavior at least temporarily, maybe permanently. But most people can’t deal with their addiction, which is deeply driven, by just being in a brotherhood.

On a psychological approach to addiction

When people are confronted with a feeling of being trapped, of being overwhelmingly helpless, they have to do something. It isn’t necessarily the “something” that actually deals with the problem. … Why addiction, though — why drink? Well, that’s the “something” that they do. In psychology we call it a displacement; you could call it a substitute …

President Trump announced that he will be commuting the sentence of drug trafficker, Alice Johnson, shortly after he had a meeting with Kim Kardashian.

Alice Johnson, 63, is a grandmother who writes plays. At least, that’s the friendly way she is described in the media. Recently, she was the subject of a video that portrayed her in a sympathetic light as a non-violent drug offender who spent 21 years in prison for a victimless crime. Sounds rather unfair, doesn’t it?

However, she received a life sentence for her role as a leader of a multi-million-dollar cocaine ring that trafficked 4,400 to 6,600 pounds into the US from Colombia. She acted as a broker for drug traffickers in Memphis in the early 1990s but says she never actually sold drugs to users – as though that makes a difference. The judge who sentenced her called her the ‘quintessential entrepreneur’ of the drug ring and said that the impact of 4,400 to 6,600 pounds of cocaine in the community was profound. It will never be known how many human lives were lost because of her leadership role in this activity.

Anthony Bourdain is a “celebrity” chef who has a show on Food Network called No Reservations that features celebrity guest stars.

According to a Dec. 8, 2016 fawning article, “Seven of Anthony Bourdain’s best celebrity guest stars,” on Australia’s SBS (Special Broadcasting Service):

“While in Hanoi, Vietnam, Tony [Bourdain] scored a sit-down, one-on-one date with President Barack Obama at an actual populated restaurant. Boy, off-camera secret service aside, it would it have been a lark to sit at that table.

During the meal, the two discuss the promo-worthy subject of ‘noodle-slurping’, fatherhood, and the nation of Vietnam, which was a surreal experience for Bourdain. He claims he hadn’t felt that nervous before a guest turned up since Iggy Pop.”

Oddly, the video on the SBS page about Bourdain and Obama is “unavailable”. Some enterprising netizen, however, found it on YouTube.

The video shows Obama and Bourdain seated in a Vietnamese noodle-shop. The two men first make a toast with bottles of beer. Obama says that as President, he rarely is able to sit in a restaurant with other patrons. Then the waitress brings their food. Bourdain tells Obama that according to Vietnamese etiquette, it is appropriate to slurp the noodles. Bourdain lauds Obama on his skill with chop sticks. Obama describes a favorite outdoors restaurant in Indonesia which overlooks tea fields. A river runs through the restaurant, and diners can pick the fish they want from the river and the restaurant would catch and fry the fish, and serve the fish with rice.

At this point, Bourdain says something completely non sequitur. He asks Obama (3:10 mark):

“Is ketchup on a hot dog ever acceptable?”

Obama answers:

“No, that’s one of those things like, well, let me put it this way, it’s not acceptable past age 8.“

According to The Daily Sheeple and others on the Alt-Media, in pedophile-speak, “pizza” refers to a young girl, while “hotdog” refers to a young boy. Urban Dictionary says “ketchup” is a euphemism for the illegal psychoactive drug ecstasy or MDMA.

And so, one interpretation of Bourdain’s non sequitur question and Obama’s cryptic reply is that they’re really referring to whether it’s acceptable to give mind-altering drugs to young boys. Unless there is another explanation for why the President of the United States of America would talk about the acceptability of putting ketchup on a hotdog, and specifying age 8 as the limit.

Readers familiar with my books and articles already know about my theory that Castro’s Cuba is actually a testing ground; a successful example of the implementation of the New World Order in a once-great country inhabited mostly by a people with an extraordinary sense of humor.

The first symptom, however, that things were going to change in Cuba happened in early February, 1959, just a month after Castro grabbed power in Cuba with the help of the Rockefellers and their beloved CIA. Zig-Zag, the humorous Cuban political satire weekly newspaper, tried to show through its cartoons that the Castro movement, like virtually every Cuban political movement before, was being high jacked by political hacks. It is pertinent to add that Zig-Zag enjoyed a well-earned reputation for letting the air out of gassy politicians. Its full front page cartoons were brilliant, and even President Batista, often the butt of Zig-Zag’s satire, let it pass with a smile. In this instance, the full-page cartoon showed Castro marching along, followed by a group of his soldiers and a multitude of civilians wearing derby hats. Derby hats are known in Cuba as bombines, an appellation for political turncoats, professional flatterers who follow every government in power.

But Castro’s unexpected reaction was an explosion of rage. Next day, while giving a speech, he accused Zig-Zag of employing “cowardly writers,” who, he alleged, had pictured him as “consorting with bombines.”  “Don’t ever,” threatened an angry Castro, “portray me in the company of bombines.” His threat proved not to be an empty one. A few months later he banned Zig-Zag, which that way won the dubious honor of becoming the first member of the Cuban free press in the long list of the ones destroyed by Fidel Castro.

The current brouhaha created by comedian Roseanne Barr’s humorous tweet about former Senior Advisor to impostor Obama Valerie Jarred resembling a monkey from Planet of the Apes, created a frenzy of politically correct outrage.[2] Just a few hours after her tweet was widely circulated, CFR-controlled ABC [3] announced it was canceling her show amid a wave of backlash against the controversial star.

Or, as Andrew C. McCarthy III, former Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, who led the 1995 terrorism prosecution against the “Blind Sheik” Omar Abdel Rahman 11 other defendants convicted of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, once put it, “you can’t have a conspiracy without a conspiracy theory.”

Both come to mind given the Washington Post’s Abigail Hauslohner charge, in her unprofessional smear piece against my former colleague Fred Fleitz, that the Center for Security Policy, where I serve as Executive Vice President, “propagates the conspiracy theory that Islamists have infiltrated the U.S. government.

Conspiracy theory?

Would Ms. Hauslohner like to explain Abdurahman Alamoudi, founder of Pentagon’s Muslim chaplain program and State Department civilian ambassador, convicted of operating on behalf of foreign intelligence agencies and later identified by Treasury Department as a top Al-Qaeda fundraiser, who is still in prison for his terrorist activities — while to my knowledge not a single one of his chaplains has been removed from our military?

How about Al-Qaeda security chief Ali Mohamed, who infiltrated the Army Special Forces and double-crossed the FBI?

On Sunday June 3rd Attorney Orly Taitz, President of Defend Our Freedoms Foundation, got to talk to the Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, Congressman  Devin Nunes (R-CA).

Taitz advised Nunes about her work and FOIA legal action filed in the US District Court of MD in relation to Obama using a CT Social Security number xxx-xx-4425, which was traced to Harrison J. Bounel. Taitz  found this number when Obama posted his 2009 tax returns on WhiteHouse.gov and originally did not properly redact the number. Taitz advised Nunes that Obama was never a resident of Connecticut and there is no legitimate reason for him to have a CT Social Security number, he should have had a Social Securty number from Hawaii. The first three digits of the number signified the state where the applicant resided, until Obama randomized them in 2011. Obama’s SSN starts with 042, which is assigned  to Connecticut, not Hawaii.

Taitz stated to Nunes that the left claims that Michael Cohen was a fixer for Trump, but it appears that Rod Rosenstein was a fixer for Obama. Rosenstein was the US attorney for Maryland, where the Social Security administration is located and where the Freedom of Information case against them had to be filed. Rosenstein’s name is on the pleadings. …………………………………………. 

……………………………. Taitz asked Nunes if he, as a Chair of the Intelligence committee, would be willing to investigate what appears to be Rod J. Rosenstein’s collusion in the cover up of Obama’s use of a stolen CT Social Security number. Nunes stated that he will be VERY interested to investigate the matter.
