Vanderbilt Professor Carol Swain: We Knew So Little About Obama’s Background; Not Native-Born?

Thoroughly interesting video.

To be fair, I think that when Professor Carol Swain said “he’s not even a native born black man” she was saying that Obama isn’t a descendant of  African-American slaves.

His mother was a white American and his father was a black African.

Just before Swain made the native born comment she said that she wondered if America being destroyed is payback for slavery.

It appears that she finds it ironic (and that objective minds 100 years from now will too) that the black man who destroyed America wasn’t even a descendant of Africa-American slaves.

In any event, the video is still relevant and thought provoking.

For the record, for many years now it has been my position that America is being destroyed and that this may be payback for slavery and for stealing the land of the indigenous Americans.

Did you know that Abraham Lincoln was a veteran of the Black Hawk [Indian] War (1832)?

The Sauk (or Sac) indigenous Americans were pushed out of Illinois and into Iowa. Black Hawk lead the Sauk back across the Mississippi River into Illinois to reclaim their land. This led to a war which they lost.

Abraham Lincoln received a land-grant from the United States Government for his service in the Black Hawk War.

Black Hawk County in Iowa (about 30 minutes from Cedar Rapids) is named after Black Hawk himself.

I know white Americans in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin who have had the same land in their family ever since it was taken from the indigenous Americans. They seem to be very proud of their land (most of it is farm land today) and they seem to think that they’ve earned it.

They tend to put down black Americans and anyone else who isn’t white enough for them. They talk about the people who are on welfare and don’t earn their keep.  Some of them (not all) admire people like newly elected Republican Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa (Iowa’s first female US Senator).

Joni Ernst, the new Republican Senator from Iowa, also likes to pretend that her family earned everything that they have even though after she was elected it was discovered that between 1995 and 2009 the Ernst’s family received nearly a half-million dollars in government handouts, payments targeted toward subsidizing farms with taxpayer funds.

For people who consider themselves to be members of the semi-elite white class of America they are also, in context and relatively, some of most intellectually stunted and extensively pea-brained people that I have ever met.

For example, one of them told me that the Northern District of Iowa (US District Court) covers northern Iowa, south Wisconsin, parts of South Dakota and parts of Minnesota.

Wtf?

When I told him that it didn’t (and that it’s called the North District of Iowa because it’s in Iowa) he became angry and aggressive, the tone of his voice raised and his eyeballs looked like where going to jump out of his outmoded eyeglasses.

Another one of these people tried to tell me that counties in Iowa have only one source of revenue: property tax.

When I mentioned (note: this is just one example of many different revenues available to counties in Iowa) the 1% Local Option Sales Tax that almost every county in Iowa collects he told me that there was no such thing or that it must be something that they only do in Cedar Rapids (Linn County, Iowa).

Wtf?

I went on to tell him that before Iowa raised state sales tax from 5% to 6% (in the year 2008) that every county in Iowa except for Linn County (Cedar Rapids) and Johnson County (Iowa City) also collected what was called the School Local Option Sales Tax (SILO).

He said he’d never heard of a tax that we pay at the schools.

Wtf and Lol.

I told him that you don’t (or didn’t) physically pay the tax at the school.  You pay (or paid) it in sales tax.

I then explained, again, that as of some point in 2008 that the school tax no longer exists because the state decided to add that 1% tax to the 5% state tax and make the state sale tax be 6%.

I then explained to him again that there is also the 1% Local Option Sales Tax which still exists and which we pay on top of the of the 6% Iowa sales tax.  Most sales receipts in Iowa (some exceptions for small districts within some counties) note a 7% tax.

It should also be noted that this 1% local tax cannot be used for schools because the local school tax (which doesn’t exist since 2008) was made part of the state sales tax in 2008 by raising Iowa state tax from 5% to 6%.

Something else that I’ve observed when speaking to these semi-elite white class of Americans who stole (their family stole the land, the land hasn’t ever been bought or sold, just passed from father/mother to son/daughter) is that if they don’t like something then it automatically becomes something “liberal” or something from liberals.

I tried to explain to one of them that just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean that the thing or idea (whatever it is) is liberal.

  2. Vanderbilt Professor Carol Swain: “I read a George Orwell’s 1984 and I feel like we are living an Orwellian experience”

I agree and have thought the same for several years now.

    1. Never ending wars which no us really and truly knows when are these wars are on, off and with whom we are at war.

    2. Titles which mean the opposite: Ministry of Peace is really the Ministry of War.

    3. One thing that is undeniable is that Doublethink exists today in America.

This from Wikipedia: Doublethink is the act of ordinary people simultaneously accepting two mutually contradictory beliefs as correct, often in distinct social contexts.[1] Doublethink is related to, but differs from, hypocrisy and neutrality. Somewhat related but almost the opposite is cognitive dissonance, where contradictory beliefs cause conflict in one’s mind. Doublethink is notable due to a lack of cognitive dissonance — thus the person is completely unaware of any conflict or contradiction.
George Orwell coined the word doublethink in his dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949); doublethink is part of newspeak. In the novel, its origin within the typical citizen is unclear; while it could be partly a product of Big Brother’s formal brainwashing programmes,[2] the novel explicitly shows people learning Doublethink and newspeak due to peer pressure and a desire to “fit in”, or gain status within the Party — to be seen as a loyal Party Member. In the novel, for someone to even recognize–let alone mention–any contradiction within the context of the Party line was akin to blasphemy, and could subject that someone to possible disciplinary action and to the instant social disapproval of fellow Party Members.

  3. ‘Liberal,’ ‘Tolerant’ Vanderbilt Muslims Seek To Bully Black Professor [Carol Swain] Into Silence

    The Daily Caller
    Jan. 21, 2015

    Excerpt:

A black Vanderbilt University professor’s op-ed critical of Islamic terrorism has touched off a wave of protest by Muslim students and other critics.

The op-ed author is Carol Swain, a longtime professor of law and political science at Vanderbilt and a self-proclaimed political conservative. Her op-ed, entitled “Charlie Hebdo attacks prove critics were right about Islam,” appeared in The Tennessean (Nashville’s main newspaper) on Jan. 15.

Swain, who opposes burqas and advocates stronger efforts at assimilation for American Muslims, argued that radical Islam “poses an absolute danger to us and our children unless it is monitored better than it has been under the Obama administration.”

In response, Muslim students, led by Vanderbilt undergraduate Farishtay Yamin, took great offense.

Yamin told The Vanderbilt Hustler, the campus newspaper, that she “could not believe her eyes” when she read Swain’s column. The student also quickly labeled Swain’s opinion as “hate speech.”

Yamin, who is the publicity chair for Vanderbilt’s Muslim Student Association, told the audience in no uncertain terms that a black female professor’s speech must be restricted if she says “these kinds of things” in the future.

“What I’m really trying to show her is that she can’t continue to say these kinds of things on a campus that’s so liberal and diverse and tolerant,” Yamin declared.

Swain “used a platform of murdering people to gain publicity,” Yamin charged.

“There is no way the students here are going to allow further attacks on their own peers,” the Muslim undergrad also threatened, according to the Fix.

“And if the university respects us as human beings, it has to come out and condemn these statements and promise us that it’s not going to happen again in the future.”

Mark Bandas, the dean of students at Vanderbilt, also got into the act. He appeared at the “Campus-Wide Protest Against Hate Speech” to offer encouragement.

“Ensuring that this campus is welcoming to, and supportive of, all of our students” is important, he told the assembled dozens. He also urged students to “engage in dialogue” when presented with “polarizing speech.”

Exhibiting an understanding of the First Amendment roughly at the level of Yamin’s, eccentric tea party favorite and 1980s-era “Saturday Night Live” cast member Victoria Jackson also attended the Vanderbilt event — carrying a “ban Sharia” sign. She was with some guy holding a red, white and blue guitar.

They want their race and attention, while we have the worst medical care in the world next to middle earth (their maybe better if Lurtz gets elected, things are heated up down there.)I am not an elf-hating jews.
