In recent days I learned of the existence of ‘Grey Thursday’ and now ‘Cyber Monday’. I don’t find the terms to be offensive ones or degrading to our foregoing Thanksgiving holiday. In 1941 a law was passed by US Congress begetting the 4th Thursday of all future Novembers as Thanksgiving Day in order to accommodate holiday shopping. Readers are welcome to look further into this matter on their own if they feel compelled to do so as I don’t want to go too far off into it all here on our WasObamaBornInKenya blog.
I recently received a question from our favorite Obot ‘Great Kim’ aka ‘Mik Taerg’ who has electronically pursued, trailed and shadowed me in the cyber world from the outset in 2009. Their recent question:
“Hi Lucas, glad to see you back. What is your take about the election ? In your opinion, why did Obama win ?“
Thanks. I don’t expressly know but I assume its very possible that Obama won because there was (and is) a plethora of individuals, of all colors and ethnicities, in the United States of America who voted for him. Something like 3 million more people than the number of people who voted for that Mormon guy named Ron or whatever his name was.
Although I do fervently concede that voter fraud and even glitches (computer error) in the voting system itself could affect the outcome of a presidential election (including 2012, those in modern history and those still to come).
One of my favorite movies, ‘Man of the Year’ (2006) (in my top 100), addresses these glitches in the voting system and provides insight into the egregiously malign depths and lengths that can be taken to cover up the such glitches in the tallying of votes for US President.
In ‘Man of the Year’ a woman named Eleanor (an employee of a voting machine company named ‘Delacroy’) discovers a computer error in counting votes for US President and subsequently, as she is considering revealing to the American public what has happened, is attacked at her home in the mid of the night and injected with a hodgepodge of illegal and illicit drugs. In the following days as she attempts to reveal to other individuals what has happened regarding the computer error in tallying votes for president she is written-off as mental case and/or drug user.
Additional attacks (drugs are not involved) are made on Eleanor in attempts to silence her.
The actress Laura Linney plays the character of Eleanor and other more notable actors with roles in ‘Man of the Year’ include, though are not limited to, Christopher Walken, Jeff Goldblum (The Fly), and Robbin Williams.
