Obama and the Democrats passed Obamacare on a straight party vote without any Republican input or votes using a parliamentary trick by Harry Reid. Among other lies, Obama promised that premiums would be reduced and everyone would keep his doctor. The basis of Obamacare was to force young healthy Americans to purchase expensive health insurance for coverage they did not need and to have taxpayers pay insurance companies to subsidize premiums for low-income Americans.

The health insurance issues could have been, and still can be, resolved by specific laws dealing with specific issues. For example, allow insurance to be sold across state lines, allow consumers to choose coverage, increase the amounts in health savings accounts (HSAs), allow for payment of premiums using HSAs, allow deductibility of all health costs and premiums from gross income, enact tort reform to limit punitive damage awards and non-economic losses, use VA hospitals to treat uninsured and those with pre-existing conditions, and others.

Instead of honestly dealing with the specific problems, Obama revamped the entire health insurance system and brought it under federal control to supposedly provide health insurance to about 12 million uninsured, when the vast majority of Americans, probably over 300 million, had health insurance. The real purpose was to extend federal control over a large portion of the economy and create more voters dependent on the Democratic Party.

Whether by design or incompetence, Obamacare has failed. Premiums have soared; consumers have no choice in coverage, nor sometimes in selection of doctors; we still have uninsured; employers have reduced the hours of employees to avoid providing health insurance; and health insurance companies have withdrawn from Obamacare.

During the past six months, Republicans have tried to fashion a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare. The House finally passed a bill. The Senate has failed to pass a bill. The problem is that the Republicans use Obamacare as a starting point to improve it and make it efficient. As a result, there are differences among the Republicans about how to fix this mess. The Democrats and their cheerleaders in the Destroy Trump Media have sat back to mock and criticize the Republicans without offering any help to fix the problem the Democrats created with Obamacare.

Here’s all we know about the tot with the High Court judge’s decision final decision about the tot’s future looming.

Who is Charlie Gard?

Charlie Gard’s fight for life has touched the world.

The tot is in the “terminal stages” of a disease called mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome, as both of his parents Connie and Chris were unknowingly carrying the faulty gene.

Charlie is said to be one of only 16 people to have ever had the condition.

Doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital had said Charlie should be allowed to die in dignity.

They applied for permission to have his ventilator switched off.

But his parents are fighting this decision – raising more than £1.3 million to pay for pioneering treatment in the US.

What has happened in the legal battle so far?

April 11 – Charlie’s distraught parents were told by a judge at the High Court that his life support machine will be turned off – ruling that it would be cruel to try and extend Charlie’s life further.

May 25 – The couple begged senior Court of Appeal judges but they upheld the High Court ruling.

May 31 – The tot was given a last minute reprieve when Britain’s Supreme Court agreed to review the case, but they then ruled that Charlie’s life support must be switched off.

June 27 – The European Court of Human Rights ruled that they would not intervene  – which meant his life-support was expected to be stopped on Friday June 30.

June 30 – After a heart-wrenching plea from Chris and Connie, Great Ormond Street agreed to grant them more time with little Charlie to say goodbye.

July 10 – The case returned to the High Court when the family asked for permission to take the terminally ill tot to the States for a “miracle” treatment. More than than 490,000 people signed a petition calling for him to be allowed to travel.

July 17 – A US doctor flew into the UK to meet with British medics. Dr Michio Hirano believes he can help Charlie.

July 18 – Dr Hirano met doctors at Great Ormond Street. The findings of the meeting will be reported to Judge Nicholas Francis, who is expected to make a final decision on July 25.

July 19 – The US Congress gave Charlie US citizenship after Dr Michio Hirano, 56, was unable to convince British consultants that his experimental treatment offers a lifeline.

Who really poses the greater threat: Putin or the anti-American Left?

Last week, I tweeted, “The news media in the West pose a far greater danger to Western civilization than Russia does.”

To my surprise, the tweet went viral. And while there were more likes than dislikes, 99 percent of the written reactions were negative.

Typical reactions were:

—”F—- you.”

—”Move to Russia.”

—”Your very full diapers pose a very great danger, please change them.” That received 1,880 likes.

—”I’ve wiped s—- off my shoes more trustworthy and patriotic than your sorry a—.” That received 606 likes.

You get the idea.

But it wasn’t the ad hominem insults that I found troubling. What was troubling was the low state of logical thinking that so many responses reflected. This was exemplified by their reminding me how important a free press is to democracy (as if attacking the behavior of the media were the same as denying the need for a free press); their asking how many nukes the media have compared with Russia (as if a threat to lives were the same as a threat to a civilization); and their thinking that my tweet was about President Donald Trump (he was never mentioned, and the words were just as true when Barack Obama was president).

My tweet was about the Western left undoing Western civilization. My one regret is that I did not mention universities along with the media.

The tweet had nothing to do with the existence of a free press. Attacking what the media is doing is not the same as attacking the existence of the media — any more than attacking Trump is attacking the existence of the presidency.

With regard to Russia having more nukes than the media, those who noted this fact so missed the entire point of the tweet that it is almost breathtaking. When one speaks about dangers to a civilization, one is speaking ideologically, not physically. Of course, if Russia were to unleash its nuclear weapons against the West, it would kill vast numbers of Westerners. However, that would no more mean the end of Western civilization than the Holocaust meant the end of Jewish civilization. Civilization connotes a body of ideas and a value system.

Furthermore, a Russian nuclear attack threatening the West’s physical existence is an utterly remote possibility. Russian leaders, just as Soviet leaders before them, fear what is known as MAD (mutually assured destruction).

The real nuclear threat comes from North Korea and, above all, Iran, which constantly announces its intent to exterminate Israel. But while The New York Times cannot stop writing about the threat Russian President Vladimir Putin poses, it accuses Trump of “demonizing” Iran.

Snowflakes don’t like being called snowflakes. The derogatory term perfectly encapsulates both their extreme fragility and their tendency to melt down at a moment’s notice, so they really can’t stand it. It probably causes them a lot of stress. So, of course, people keep using it.

That, if the New York Times is to be believed, could probably be considered some sort of assault.

People who say things often do so without any regard for the health and safety of those who might hear their words. At best, they’re callous and selfish. At worst, they’re murderers. Their weapon of choice?  …Unpleasant opinions.

Well, the Times isn’t going to take this lying down. On Friday, they wondered: Is there really any difference between speech and physical violence?  If there is, what is it?

The answer might seem obvious: Physical violence is physically damaging; verbal statements aren’t. “Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”

But scientifically speaking, it’s not that simple. Words can have a powerful effect on your nervous system. Certain types of adversity, even those involving no physical contact, can make you sick, alter your brain — even kill neurons — and shorten your life.

Your body’s immune system includes little proteins called proinflammatory cytokines that cause inflammation when you’re physically injured. Under certain conditions, however, these cytokines themselves can cause physical illness. What are those conditions? One of them is chronic stress.

Chronic stress, it seems, can hinder the process by which the cells in your body divide. The more stress you endure, the faster the cellular replication degrades, and the sooner you die. According to the New York Times, words you disagree with are very stressful. Therefore, it only stands to reason that certain forms of free speech are so inflammatory that they’re actually sending people to an early grave.

A new blockbuster study that examines the most relied-upon global temperature data sets could start a chain-reaction demolition of global-warming alarmism. The peer-reviewed study by two climate scientists and a statistician challenges the “adjustment” process used to produce the global average temperature datasets (GAST) that have dominated media headlines and political debate for the past two decades. The new report could also upend the multi-billion dollar climate lobby, as well as the Obama administration’s EPA executive order declaring carbon dioxide to be a dangerous gas.

The new study, “On the Validity of NOAA, NASA and Hadley CRU Global Average Surface Temperature Data & The Validity of EPA’s CO2 Endangerment Finding,” co-authored by Drs. James P. Wallace III, Craig D. Idso, and Joseph S. D’Aleo, was released on June 27. It was peer-reviewed by a distinguished group of seven scientists, including Dr. Alan Carlin (retired senior analyst and manager, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency), Professor Anthony R. Lupo (expert reviewer for the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), and Dr. George T. Wolff (former chair of the EPA’s Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee).

The “conclusive findings” of their research, say the study co-authors are that inappropriate “adjustments” have been made to the temperature record, with the result that “the three GAST data sets are not a valid representation of reality.” “In fact, the magnitude of their historical data adjustments, that removed their cyclical temperature patterns, are totally inconsistent with published and credible U.S. and other temperature data. Thus, it is impossible to conclude from the three published GAST data sets that recent years have been the warmest ever — despite current claims of record setting warming.”

The researchers found that “each new version of GAST has nearly always exhibited a steeper warming linear trend over its entire history. And, it was nearly always accomplished by systematically removing the previously existing cyclical temperature pattern.” If the invalid GAST “adjustments” are discarded, there is virtually no warming trend to speak of. That, of course, is what the “pause” or “hiatus” in global temperatures of the past 20 years is all about. Despite the monkeying with GAST, even many of the top alarmists have admitted that the pause is real and that they have no satisfactory explanation for it.

Fox News contributor Brit Hume said Sunday that Obamacare’s mandate that insurance companies cover those with pre-existing conditions completely undermines the concept of insurance.

“The triumph of ObamaCare is this coverage for pre-existing conditions, which basically defeats the whole idea of insurance,” Hume said. “For example, in the automobile insurance market, if you could wait till you had a wreck and then buy insurance and have the repairs covered, that’s comparable to what we’re doing here.”

He went on to say that the concept of insurance is to protect oneself from any unforeseen risks in the future, not to acquire it once one falls prey to illness. “The idea of insurance is that you purchase it to guard against risks and things that may occur in the future. It’s not that you purchase the coverage after you’re already sick,” Hume said.
