Jeff Bezos’ sprawling e-commerce giant Amazon reportedly raked in more than $5.6 billion in U.S. profits in 2017, but despite that, the company essentially paid $0 in federal income taxes.

That’s largely attributable to “excess stock-based compensation deductions” and the effect of the 2017 Tax Act, according to the company’s U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing earlier this month. In other words, Amazon was able to leverage the tax credits and breaks to zero out taxes it owed this year, according to the Institute on Taxation and Economy Policy (ITEP), a non-partisan think tank.

It’s open sex war — a grisly death match that neither men nor women will win.

Ever since The New York Times opened the floodgates last October with its report about producer Harvey Weinstein’s atrocious history of sexual harassment, there has been a torrent of accusations, ranging from the trivial to the criminal, against powerful men in all walks of life.

But no profession has been more shockingly exposed and damaged than the entertainment industry, which has posed for so long as a bastion of enlightened liberalism. Despite years of pious lip service to feminism at award shows, the fabled “casting couch” of studio-era Hollywood clearly remains stubbornly in place.

The big question is whether the present wave of revelations, often consisting of unsubstantiated allegations from decades ago, will aid women’s ambitions in the long run or whether it is already creating further problems by reviving ancient stereotypes of women as hysterical, volatile and vindictive.

My philosophy of equity feminism demands removal of all barriers to women’s advancement in the political and professional realms. However, I oppose special protections for women in the workplace. Treating women as more vulnerable, virtuous or credible than men is reactionary, regressive and ultimately counterproductive.

Complaints to the Human Resources department after the fact are no substitute for women themselves drawing the line against offensive behavior — on the spot and in the moment. Working-class women are often so dependent on their jobs that they cannot fight back, but there is no excuse for well-educated, middle-class women to elevate career advantage or fear of social embarrassment over their own dignity and self-respect as human beings. Speak up now, or shut up later! Modern democracy is predicated on principles of due process and the presumption of innocence.

(Feb. 25, 2018) — Over the past several months—with particular emphasis on these last two weeks of the Florida high school shooting—the US Federal Bureau of Investigation has had many of its scurrilous secrets, corruption and lies exposed to the public.  The contemptuously blasé behavior patterns of its upper management or “the 7^th Floor” have left such an odious stench that its headquarters may need to be completely gutted.

The mandate to “if you see something, say something” no longer holds any credibility…whatsoever.  It is useless and nonsensical to, virtually, shout from the rafters to our chief investigative group, the FBI, and “law-enforcers” that people are going to be killed if something isn’t immediately effected to prevent it if said law enforcement has no intention of stopping the carnage.  The FBI ignored and/or dismissed at least 2 if-not-3 warnings that Cruz was going to “shoot up the school.”  Cruz had even posted his intentions on Youtube where he wrote:  “I’m going to be a professional school shooter” five months before the actual shootings.  What’s even worse is that this massacre of 17 human beings came directly after multiple still-ongoing Congressional investigations (including disturbing reports about the FBI leadership) and documents that both indicate and substantiate massive corruption within the FBI…itself.  This last episode, however, may be the worst of all.

If you support President Trump and have not yet seen the movie “Darkest Hour” permit me to suggest that you do so at the earliest opportunity. If you are anything like myself you will be struck by the similarities between the challenges faced by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the early days of WW II, and those faced by American President Donald Trump almost eighty years later.

The details of the challenges each man faced during their initial time in office of course differ greatly, but the general tone of political nastiness and waging an uphill battle…that is remarkably similar.

Churchill followed hard on the heels of Prime Minister Neville “Peace in Our Time” Chamberlain and his efforts to appease Adolph Hitler. Trump followed President Barack “Lead from Behind” Obama, who tried to appease…damn near everyone.

Winston Churchill confronted the eugenics and social engineering constructs of Hitler’s vile Nazi fascism. A British victory was far from certain in the early stages of the war – it was, in fact, highly unlikely. Nonetheless, failure was not an option.

Churchill faced the immense juggernaut of Hitler’s military might. President Trump faces the collectivist agenda of an entrenched, fanatical, ruthless, well-funded and prolific globalist elite (and their attendant useful idiots).

Both Trump and Churchill share the quality of being good men who know that they are not saints – and we know it too, and that’s okay, that’s more than okay. Leave sainthood to the saintly. When the times call for a courageous street fighter you don’t call on Mother Theresa.
