President Donald Trump is tapping former Assistant Attorney General Chris Wray to serve as the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the president said in a tweet Wednesday morning.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mr. Wray, a former senior Justice Department official who has since served as a white-collar defense lawyer, met with Mr. Trump late last month at the White House for an interview.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI will be nominating Christopher A. Wray, a man of impeccable credentials, to be the new Director of the FBI,\u201d Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter. \u201cDetails to follow.\u201d Once officially nominated, Mr. Wray will need Senate confirmation.<\/em><\/p>\n
