From 1763-1776, many Americans felt the mounting force and expanding intrusion of a Deep State and their anger grew.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

It happened in 1776 \u2013 America\u2019s first revolution against a Deep State.<\/em><\/p>\n

President Donald Trump\u2019s campaign promise to \u201cDrain the Swamp,\u201d if fulfilled, will bring a second revolution against a Deep State.<\/em><\/p>\n

The first Deep State in America was foreign born in 18th Century England. It impacted the Colonies through the Crown\u2019s operatives and emissaries, some American born \u2013 some British.<\/em><\/p>\n

Today\u2019s American Deep State is born and bred in the United States. We Americans own it – it\u2019s ours free-and-clear.<\/em><\/p>\n

So what is the Deep State today?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

So what is the Deep State today? The answer is found in our past.<\/em><\/p>\n

Bernard Bailyn (b. September 9, 1922), Adams University Professor and James Duncan Phillips Professor of Early American History, Harvard University, received the Pulitzer Prize and the Bancroft Prize for his book entitled The Ideological Origins of the American Revolution. Among his explanations for the American Revolution is one particularly relevant to today\u2019s political environment in America.<\/em><\/p>\n

The American Revolution did not begin with gunfire at Lexington and Concord. Years before then, \u201cthe colonists believed they saw emerging from the welter of events during the decade after the Stamp Act [1765] a pattern\u2026with increasing clarity, [of] not merely mistaken, or even evil, policies violating the principles upon which freedom rested, but what appeared to be evidence of nothing less than a deliberate assault launched surreptitiously by plotters against liberty both in England and in America.\u201d (pp. 94-95)<\/em><\/p>\n

This \u201cdeliberate assault\u201d traced back to the \u201cinvasions of custom officers\u201d into the Colonies \u201cborn with long claws like eagles\u201d dating back to the Seven Years\u2019 War (pp.102-103).<\/em><\/p>\n

Along with the proliferation of British taxes on the Colonies came a growth in the American Board of Customs Commissioners born in 1767. James Wilson wrote that \u201cthe crown will take advantage of every opportunity of extending the prerogative in opposition to the privileges of the people, [and] that it is the interest of those who have pensions or offices at will from the crown to concur in all its measures\u201d(Bailyn, p.103, …).<\/em><\/p>\n
