I’ve been developing a book tracking website called<\/span> Nandibear.com<\/span><\/a> for almost a year now.<\/span><\/p>\n

For readers who may not already know a Nandi Bear is a cryptid animal which purportedly lives in Kenya and ostensibly elsewhere in east Africa. The bear is named for the<\/span> Nandi people of Kenya<\/span><\/a> who believe that the bear hunts humans and then eats their brains.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the Nandi Bear website you can track books as they travel the world. You can see where books have been and how far they’ve traveled.<\/span><\/p>\n

Everyone is eligible to sign-up at the site and apply for a<\/span> Nandi Bear Passport<\/span><\/a> (one for each book which you’d like to track). \u00a0After doing so you can print Nandi Bear Passport stickers for your books.<\/span><\/p>\n

Getting a passport for books that you are donating to charity or libraries (or gifting)\u00a0is a spectacular and thought-provoking idea as you may be able to see where your books end up at and possibly new owners throughout the years and maybe even international travel.<\/span><\/p>\n

Likewise, if you receive, find or purchase a book which contains a<\/span> NandiBear Passport Sticker<\/span><\/a> inside the front cover you’ll be able to go online at NandiBear.com and enter the book’s unique Nandi Bear Passport number and see where the book has been in the past.\u00a0<\/span>At the same NandiBear.com website you’ll be able to get a digital<\/span> Nandi Bear Passport Stamp<\/span><\/a> for your book which will let others know of the book’s new location and how you personally acquired (e.g., found it, bought at used book store, received as a gift) the book.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the title today’s featured report suggests the Nandi Bear has spotted Barack Obama [Sr.] on the front cover of his son Malik Obama’s book,\u00a0Barack Obama Sr: The Rise and Life of a True African Scholar <\/em>(Nandi Bear passport\u00a02015001131<\/strong>).<\/span><\/p>\n

Malik’s book was copyrighted at some point in 2012 and I purchased my first copy (hardcover) in April of 2013. \u00a0Within the book I discovered several riveting old photographs of Barack Obama Sr.’s passport from colonial Kenya\u00a0as well as a second passport for post-colonial Kenya. \u00a0Additionally I found other photographs within Malik’s book including Obama Sr.’s\u00a0Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hawaii.<\/span><\/p>\n

In mid April, 2013 we published a number of reports here at WOBIK which included scans of the above referenced documents:<\/span><\/p>\n
