For example, Roman Emperor Nero (born 37 AD) married a young boy named\u00a0Sporus. \u00a0It&#8217;s been legal, illegal, legal, illegal and it will one day be legal again and then illegal again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In many countries (including, though not limited to, the United States and France) you can get married to a dead person. \u00a0In 2014 the Utah Supreme Court ruled that a woman (Janetta Gardiner) can marry a dead man (Kenneth Vanderwerff):<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px auto 6px auto; font-family: Helvetica,Arial,Sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; -x-system-font: none; display: block;\"><a style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" title=\"View Utah Supreme Court ruling in Gardiner on Scribd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/doc\/249667116\/Utah-Supreme-Court-ruling-in-Gardiner\">Utah Supreme Court ruling in Gardiner<\/a> by <a style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" title=\"View Ben Winslow's profile on Scribd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/ben_winslow\">Ben Winslow<\/a><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"doc_21614\" class=\"scribd_iframe_embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/embeds\/249667116\/content?start_page=1&amp;view_mode=scroll&amp;access_key=key-12wU8DaeYXfdvriH77VN&amp;show_recommendations=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" data-auto-height=\"false\" data-aspect-ratio=\"0.7729220222793488\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">However, it is my position that there may be one\u00a0subject that is worthy of debate, discussion and legislation: Immigration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It seems that typical Americans are\u00a0unmindful when it comes to immigration. \u00a0Myself, I don&#8217;t want the United States to experience immigration problems like those faced in Sweden or Norway. It is my position that the United States should close the immigration doors (both doors, legal and illegal) other than than those immigrants\u00a0who are arriving by way of marriage to a US citizen. \u00a0Why?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Firstly, its seems that most Americans look at immigration from the bottom up. \u00a0We see the immigrants as taking jobs which Americans don&#8217;t want or wont work. \u00a0But we imagine, or only see, the low paying jobs: janitorial, fast food or restaurant employee, agricultural (farm) workers, cashiers,\u00a0etcetera.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How come\u00a0we Americans tend not to have a problem (or not see in the first place) with<\/span> <strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">immigrant engineers<\/span><\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We are worried about Rodriquez not being able to count change back at McDonalds and Jose picking strawberries on the farm but we don&#8217;t have a problem with Mr\u00a0Tanvi\u00a0Bhatnagar (not a real person), who has just recently arrived in the United States and is now working as an engineer at <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rockwellcollins.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rockwell<\/a><\/span> providing avionics\u00a0and information technology systems and services to the US Government and aircraft manufacturers?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I don&#8217;t know what the percentages are at the moment (other than that they are substantially and extensively higher) but did you know that in\u00a01995\u00a0about 15 percent of working US scientists, and 17 percent of working US engineers, were<\/span> <strong>non-native born<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/immigrant-engineers-Obama-Lucas-Daniel-Smith.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft style=\"color: #000000;\">of the engineers working in the academic sector (twice the level of their representation overall) (see chart directly below):<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/immigrant-engineers-Obama-Lucas-Daniel-Smith-academic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft 359px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Benghazi, abortion, gay marriage, etcetera&#8230;blah&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is my position that a high percentage of us, the native born American population, are (perhaps by some deliberate plan which cannot be known by a simple man such as myself) being left behind by the rest of the world and we don&#8217;t even realize it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Yet we continue on with debates on abortion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We promote theories which have been supplied\u00a0to us regarding immigration such as immigrants are taking jobs that Americans don&#8217;t want and wont work. \u00a0I don&#8217;t understand how anyone could believe that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Americans (native born) will work jobs that they don&#8217;t want. \u00a0 This is how it works:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If Americans wont take the job, and there aren&#8217;t any illegal (or legal) immigrants to take fill the jobs, the pay rates will increase and then the Americans (native born) will take the jobs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Americans will pay more for products and services if needed. \u00a0If gasoline prices surged to 6 dollars a gallon tomorrow Americans would still be buying gasoline. \u00a0If fruit tripled in price the fruit eaters would still pay for it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If Pepsi and Coca Cola doubled (or more) in price we&#8217;d still buy it. \u00a0We do it now, by choice:<\/span>\u00a0<strong>2\u00a0liter of Coke<\/strong>: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">between 1 &#8211; 2 dollars<\/span>. \u00a0 <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>20 ounce bottle of Coke<\/strong><\/span>: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">$1.60<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What would happen if employers refused to raise wages or if consumers refused to pay the higher prices? \u00a0That particular employer may\u00a0have to stop producing that particular product. Consumers would still need, or want, the product. \u00a0A different\u00a0employer would figure out a way to pay the higher employee wages and then produce and sell the product.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The problem may be that Americans (including the\u00a0patriots out there with their with flags and signs) don&#8217;t really have any\u00a0problem with hiring illegal immigrants or legal immigrants who can&#8217;t find work (or better work).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I personally know employers (one claims to be a patriot and is always talking about the stinking &#8216;liberals&#8217; even if the person or subject he is referring to is not liberal) who have told me that if slavery was still legal they would own slaves and also that if they could get away with it they&#8217;d rather not pay a free\u00a0citizen either (by finding a woman or man with nowhere to go) but rather\u00a0have the free citizen work (many hours, seven days a week, under horrid conditions) for nothing more than room and board (bread, soup and a cot) in return.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In any event, I tend to agree with\u00a0<strong>Thomas\u00a0Friedman<\/strong> when, writing for the NY Times, he said (2005),<\/span> <em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The main challenge to America today is from those practicing extreme capitalism, namely China, India and South Korea.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You can read about that in the NY Times article, April 3rd, 2005, here:<\/span> \u00a0<em><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/04\/03\/magazine\/03DOMINANCE.html?pagewanted=print&amp;position&amp;_r=0\" target=\"_blank\">It&#8217;s a Flat World, After All<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here&#8217;s a present day (2014) example:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">China&#8217;s e-commerce website,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.alibaba.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Alibaba<\/a><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #000000;\">the world&#8217;s largest online retailing company in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2013 stats:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Alibaba: \u00a0 <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">248 billion<\/span><\/strong> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">dollars worth of merchandise bought on their site<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Amazon:<\/span> \u00a0 <strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">110 billion<\/span><\/strong> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">dollars worth of merchandise bought on their site<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">eBay: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span> \u00a0 \u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">76<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">billion<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">dollars worth of merchandise bought on their site<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">September 2014:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Alibaba was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. \u00a0IPO (initial public offering) took place on Sept. 5th, 2014 with a per share price of $60 some dollars. \u00a0As of today (Dec. 30th, 2014) the per share price is approximately $106 dollars:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Alibaba-stock-chinese-obama.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-6001\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Alibaba-stock-chinese-obama.jpg\" alt=\"Alibaba stock chinese obama\" width=\"612\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Alibaba-stock-chinese-obama.jpg 565w, https:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Alibaba-stock-chinese-obama-300x251.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It should also be noted that when we buy shares of <strong>Alibaba Group Holding Limited<\/strong> we (Americans) are not (we are NOT) buying shares of Alibaba.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What does that mean?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Alibaba is headquatered in China. \u00a0Alibaba Group Holding Limited is a holding company which is incorporated in the Cayman Islands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It should also be noted that Alibaba originally wanted to list\u00a0on the\u00a0Hong Kong Stock Exchange (SEHK) but was not able to do so because of SEHK&#8217;s stringent regulatory environment. \u00a0Alibaba then decided to come to Wall Street.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In closing: I respect everyone&#8217;s beliefs, opinions and position and such is welcomed in comments section. \u00a0Moreover, its ok\u00a0to debate and discuss things subjects and topics such as, though not limited to,\u00a0Benghazi, abortion and gay marriage. \u00a0Just be careful to not let the world pass you by and please don&#8217;t automatically and unquestionably accept the contemporary and prevailing theories being sold out there regarding immigration and other political and\u00a0socio-economic matters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Happy New Year 2015 and please exercise your free speech in the comments section below.
