At least respect the part you play. Then again your mother and father don\u2019t respect their positions very much, or the nation for that matter, so I\u2019m guessing you\u2019re coming up a little short in the \u2018good role model\u2019 department. Nevertheless, stretch yourself. Rise to the occasion. Act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar. And certainly don\u2019t make faces during televised public events.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">First I&#8217;d like to say that I advocate the 1st Amendment and free speech.<\/span>\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Elizabeth Lauten<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">has that right to publish her thoughts regarding the Turkey Pardon and the First Family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I also find her intolerant-like remarks to be racist.\u00a0 It appears that the First Family and their actions just may not be white enough for Elizabeth Lauten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I remember in the early 1990s my father told my siblings and I that we were not to wear baggy jeans because that was black a thing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Nowadays blacks wear tight jeans and it seems that most whites (aside from the very young generation and other trendy whites) are wearing baggy clothing (including my father).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In any event, I find<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Elizabeth Lauten<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">to be racist (not that I give a crap what she is, racist or not racist).\u00a0 However, her statement is fully and thoroughly covered by the 1st Amendment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">That being said, why would Lauten take the Turkey Pardon so seriously?\u00a0 In my opinion there is nothing serious (televised event or not) about the Annual Turkey Pardon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And what&#8217;s this about,<\/span> &#8220;<span style=\"color: #000000;\">At least respect the part you play.&#8221; Is there a part to play? Reminds of politicians and political commentators (especially white American ones) who preach out against drugs (Rush Limbaugh), or who advocate abstinence and family values (<\/span><span dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mark Souder, R-IN<\/span>), <span style=\"color: #000000;\">or Tom Ganley (married and father of 3) who was a candidate (R-OH)<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010 and was indicted on seven counts of sexual imposition with a woman he met at a&#8230;<strong>Tea Party Rally!<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Then there is Mark Sanford (R-SC).\u00a0 In <strong>2013<\/strong> (last year) he won a special election for US Congressman (1st District) in South Carolina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He also represented the same district in South Carolina from 1995 thru 2001.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> As readers may know he was also Governor of South Carolina from 2003 thru 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On June 24, 2009 he he publicly revealed that he had engaged in an extramarital affair with Mar\u00eda Bel\u00e9n Chapur, a woman from Argentina.<sup>\u00a0 <\/sup>(<strong>It should also be noted that he\u00a0 misused state travel funds to conduct his affair.<\/strong>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He once told his wife that he was hiking the Appalachian Mountain Trail when really and truly he was traveling to have sex with his mistress (Mar\u00eda Bel\u00e9n Chapur) in Argentina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Also, why did he confess on June 24th (2009)?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Because on June 25, <i>La Naci\u00f3n<\/i>, a Buenos Aires newspaper, identified an Argentine woman, Mar\u00eda Bel\u00e9n Chapur,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">a 43 years of age divorced mother of two with a university degree in international relations, who lives in the city of Buenos Aires, as the woman who South Carolina Governor Mark Sandord was having an extramarital affair with.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mark Sanford (Marshall Clement &#8220;Mark&#8221; Sanford, Jr. &#8211; born May 28th, 1960) met\u00a0Mar\u00eda Bel\u00e9n Chapur at a dance in Uruguay in the year 2001.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In any event, style changes.\u00a0 It seems that &#8216;class&#8217; was once depicted (until some point maybe in the 1960s?) by US Presidents wearing top hats and homburg hats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I didn&#8217;t see anything that wasn&#8217;t classy, or anything that was disrespectful, in the video of the 2014 Annual Turkey Pardon at the White House.\u00a0 Furthermore, since when is a Turkey Pardon supposed to be a stony-faced and humorless event?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Please exercise your free speech in the comments section below.
