Official White House photo by Lawrence Jackson.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Readers of the WOBIK blog may, or may not, be aware that\u00a0Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga recently spent more than nearly three (3) months in the United States at Boston University where he was in\u00a0residence for the spring semester at Boston University&#8217;s <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/apc\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">African Presidential Center<\/span><\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It appears that Odinga left Kenya for the United States on<\/span> <strong>March 9th<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">(2014) and that he arrived back in Kenya<\/span> <strong>May 31st<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">(2014).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Odinga also gave a speech at Harvard University and in April he traveled to Atlanta and laid a wreath on Martin Luther King&#8217;s grave and visited the Martin Luther King Center where he addressed students from several universities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Odinga also gave speeches at (or addressed) the following universities:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1. \u00a0Columbia University in New York<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2. \u00a0Princeton University in New Jersey<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3. \u00a0Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4. \u00a0University of Massachusetts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">His wife, Ida Odinga, who also travelled with Odinga to the United States, delivered a lecture at\u00a0Wellesley\u00a0University in Boston.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Raila Odinga asked the above cited universities to give more scholarships Kenyan students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He also stated that in the next decade at least twelve (12) African nations will become large oil exporters injecting<\/span> <strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">$3 trillion<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> into their economies. Raila maintained that corruption is swallowing Africa&#8217;s potential, although leaders tend to dismiss concerns about it. He said that Africa loses $148 billion to corruption annually, equal to 25 percent of the continent&#8217;s GDP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It should also be noted that in May he attended a global health summit in\u00a0Atlanta, Georgia organised by CARE International. \u00a0Odinga said that Malari and HIV were down and secondary school enrollment and per capita income per person were rising.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In an interview (May 2014) at Boston University, published on\u00a005.22.2014 by Susan Seligson at www.bu.edu\/\u00a0(link <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/today\/2014\/former-prime-minister-talks-about-kenya-challenges-future\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">here<\/span><\/a><\/span>),\u00a0the following was stated by Raila Odinga:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It\u2019s really unfortunate that Obama did not come to Kenya last year when he came to Africa. One hopes that he\u2019ll come before his term is up. I would like to extend the invitation to him to come to Kenya. I think it would do Kenya good. He has his grandfather and stepfather here and in their lifetimes they really wish to receive one of their own while he is president.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When asked if\u00a0President Obama\u2019s Kenyan heritage has made any difference to Kenya he stated: \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It should have been a good selling point for Kenya, but I don\u2019t think it has given Kenyans an advantage as one might have expected. Maybe Kenya has also by extension inherited some of Obama\u2019s enemies.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In a Kenya\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Star<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0article (which addressed the Boston University interview), titled<\/span>\u00a0<em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/webcache.googleusercontent.com\/search?q=cache:http:\/\/www.the-star.co.ke\/news\/article-168497\/obama-has-not-helped-kenya-raila-now-claims\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Obama has not helped Kenya, Raila now claims<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">and<em>\u00a0<\/em>published on 05.26.2014 by Francis Mureithi<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">the Kenyan report states:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">FORMER Prime Minister Raila Odinga has slammed the Barack Obama administration, saying the US President has not helped Kenya, contrary to great expectations.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Obama has given Kenya a wide berth since he was elected America\u2019s 44th President in November 2008.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During his first term, Obama made his first trip to Africa as president, visiting Ghana in 2009. After being reelected to serve his second and last term, Obama made a second trip to Africa last June, where he visited Senegal, Tanzania and South Africa. His term as US president will end on January 20, 2017.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Obama visited Kenya in 2006, shortly after he was elected to the Senate, but before he announced his 2008 run for the White House.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;\">WOBIK Conclusion:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Boston University interview, and Raila Odinga (and his wife, Ida) having recently spent nearly three (3) months in the United States at the University, is interesting enough (I had no idea that Odinga was in the United States and I certainly did not know that he was in residence this spring at Boston University) and it is plainly an undoubtedly noted that Barack Obama has physically disconnected himself from his birth place of Kenya ever since he announced his 2008 bid for President of the United States of America but I also found the following remark by Odinga to be thought-provoking:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He <\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[president Barack Obama]<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0has his <strong>grandfather and stepfather here<\/strong> <\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[in Kenya]<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0and in their lifetimes they really wish to receive one of their own while he is president.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Who are these individuals?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1. \u00a0Obama has a stepfather in Kenya?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2. \u00a0Obama has a living grandfather in Kenya?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Please exercise your free speech in the comments section below.
