Lucas Daniel Smith."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DbVrS0HlWEE\" height=\"317\" width=\"620\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I filmed this yesterday (o6.01.2013) afternoon at approximately 2:00 pm and onwards in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with my <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/gopro.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This was filmed on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids along the Cedar River Trail.\u00a0 There was a residential neighborhood, now known as <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/czechvillagecedarrapids.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Czech Village<\/span><\/a><\/span> (<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Little Bohemia<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> in the 19th century) and which dates back to the 1850s, near the banks of where this video begins but that neighborhood was destroyed in the 2008 flood and all but just a few houses have been demolished since.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I believe the river, yesterday at the time of filming, was between 18 to 20 feet above normal water level which is insignificant and unexceptional when compared to the 500 year flood of 2008 where water levels submerged entire houses (some completely underwater), buildings, the downtown area and entire neighborhoods.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here are a few pics from the 2008 Cedar Rapids 500 year flood:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3406\" alt=\"downtown CR flood\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/downtown-CR-flood.jpg\" width=\"990\" height=\"598\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/downtown-CR-flood.jpg 990w, https:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/downtown-CR-flood-300x181.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 990px) 100vw, 990px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3407\" alt=\"A&amp;W Cedar Rapids Iowa flood\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/AW-Cedar-Rapids-Iowa-flood.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-3408\" alt=\"Iowa Faces Next Round Of Flooding\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/house-CR-flood-1024x715.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/house-CR-flood-1024x715.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.wasobamaborninkenya.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/house-CR-flood-300x209.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Please exercise your free speech in the comments section below.
