Our featuring of The Standard\u2018s article generated much <\/em>discussion<\/em><\/a> and <\/em>link-sharing<\/em><\/a> both supporting and refuting the claim of Obama\u2019s \u201cKenyan\u201d birth.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between <\/em>November 2008<\/em><\/a> and <\/em>March 2010<\/em><\/a>, several Kenyan officials, including members of Parliament, <\/em>declared<\/em><\/a> Obama as born in their country, not the United States.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 9, 2008, NPR, which receives part of its funding from the U.S. government, <\/em>reported<\/em><\/a>:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ofeibea Quist-Arcton, NPR\u2019s Africa-based correspondent, tells why her beat has proved one of the most interesting this year.<\/p>

She discusses the stories that have been painful and devastating for many nations on the continent such as the violent political fights that have led to power-sharing deals.<\/p>
