Two weeks after <\/em>permanently banning<\/em><\/a> several conservative commentators over perceived \u201chate speech,\u201d Facebook temporarily suspended Candace Owens (shown), the leader of the <\/em>Blexit<\/em><\/a> movement, for a similar offense. The suspension, originally meant to last seven days lasted only one day as Facebook quickly backed down and returned Owens\u2019 account to an active status after severe social media backlash.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owens\u2019 crime? <\/em>A post from May 4<\/em><\/a>, where she listed several poverty statistics and wrote, \u201cBlack America must wake up to the great liberal hoax. White supremacy is not a threat. Liberal supremacy is.\u201d Owens was notified that her Facebook account was suspended for seven days because she had violated the website\u2019s \u201ccommunity standards.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to her account being reinstated, <\/em>Owens tweeted directly<\/em><\/a> to President Trump to inform him of the situation. \u00a0\u201cDear [President Trump], My [Facebook] has been suspended for seven days for posting that white supremacy is not a threat to black America, as much as father absence and liberal policies that incentivize it are,\u201d Owens tweeted. \u201cI am censored for posting the poverty rates in fatherless homes.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
