\u201cWe are no longer in a bull market, we peaked last summer. So this is a fake anniversary,\u201d Kaplan told MarketWatch, in an interview on Tuesday. That puts him definitely in the camp of those who aren\u2019t <\/em>who aren\u2019t celebrating<\/em><\/a> the 10th birthday of this bull market. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kaplan\u2019s observed two bear markets since his newsletter got its start in 1996. He sees a classic mistake being made now in which investors are just looking back to last year, rather than comparing recent performance to the last big meltdowns. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For one, U.S. stock valuations are at altitude-sickness levels versus the rest of the world \u2014 either close to or below their average historic levels. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
