On display directly below is the <\/span>Certificate of Appreciation<\/span><\/em> issued to me in honor and recognition of the priceless gift of kidney donation. Certificate was issued by the hospital (in the United States of America) where the kidney transplant surgery was conducted.\u00a0\u00a0 The certificate (non-redacted), as well as two chapters (non-redacted) from my unpublished book <\/span>Kidney: A Memoir Written in Third-Person<\/span><\/em>, are now for up auction at eBay listing<\/span> 140668868245 which can be accessed <\/span>here<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.

Jim Wilson, Jr. received a kidney from Cedar Rapids, Iowa native Diane Langton in the year 2004.\u00a0 Diane got involved with the Wilsons in 2003 after reading about a young man, me Lucas, whose hometown was also Cedar Rapids.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diane was taken in by the Wilson family’s slanderous and double-crossing untrue claims of having been strung along with assurance of a free and donative kidney by me, Lucas, for approximately five months before abruptly asking to be financially compensated with $600 US dollars.\u00a0 (A tale that not even the police, FBI and federal prosecutors were willing to believe).<\/span><\/p>\n

After reading several 2003 editions of The Gazette<\/strong> newspaper which covered the kidney fiasco Diana was motivated to counter the shame she felt had fallen on her hometown of Cedar Rapids.\u00a0 She stated that, <\/span>“Lucas Smith is an enigma to me.\u00a0 I just know he devastated a good family for no really good reason.\u00a0 I love my city <\/span><\/em>[Cedar Rapids]<\/span>.\u00a0 I was born here and raised here, as my husband, as were my children.\u00a0 It bothers me that something so reprehensible would be associated with my home.”<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

For the record<\/strong>: Jim Wilson, Sr. and I (Lucas) entered into a financial arrangement from the outset.\u00a0 It was Jim Wilson, Sr. who proved incapable of keeping his end of the bargain, not me.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

At any rate, Jim Wilson, Jr. died in January of the year 2008, nearly four years after having taken physical receipt of life-saving kidney from Diane Langton.\u00a0 He died of heart failure and NOT kidney failure. \u00a0 Read more regarding his unfortunate death at the New York Syracuse.com<\/span> article, Good morning, Oswego County: 01\/16\/2008<\/span><\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For the record<\/span>:<\/strong>\u00a0 Everyone, aside from the organ donor, is allowed to make a profit from organ donations.\u00a0 The organ banks are paid, the doctors & all of their\u00a0 assistants collect a fee and are paid for their services.\u00a0\u00a0 The organ recipient benefits more than probably everyone for they now have a new lease on life.<\/span>\u00a0 But it is a crime to give money to the donor.\u00a0\u00a0 Since donors are not paid, most all potential donors (everyone one in the world) keep their organs (kidneys included) to themselves.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 Thousands of US citizens die each years as they wait for their number to be called on the kidney transplant list.<\/span>\u00a0 It should also be noted that kidneys from living donors survive longer (in their new bodies)<\/strong><\/span>, and function more effectively and efficiently (in their new bodies)<\/strong><\/span>, than kidneys harvested from the recently decease<\/span>d.<\/span><\/p>\n
