In a widely ridiculed speech in 2015 at Trump Tower, Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president, promised to secure the U.S.-Mexico border and told the nation: \u201cThey\u2019re bringing drugs, they\u2019re bringing crime, they\u2019re rapists \u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

To fix that problem, the future president promised he\u2019d build a wall on the southern border.<\/em><\/p>\n

The mainstream media lambasted Trump for being \u201cinsensitive,\u201d<\/strong><\/a> said he is \u201cracist\u201d<\/strong><\/a> and accused him of \u201cinsulting\u201d Mexico with his comments.<\/em><\/p>\n

When CNN asked Trump if he regretted saying \u201crapist\u201d come across the border from Mexico, Trump doubled down: \u201cSome are rapists and some are killers.\u201d<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

But was Trump actually right about rapists illegally crossing the border and coming into the U.S. from Mexico?<\/em><\/p>\n
