Are You Capable of Handling the Truth?

    Excerpt:

In 1775 at the Virginia Convention Patrick Henry spoke these words:

"It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren, till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth -- to know the worst and to provide for it. I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided; and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging of the future but by the past."

Henry's words are of paramount importance today in America. Not only are we as a citizenry unable or unwilling to grasp the whole truth about what we now face, but that whole truth is a bitter pill to swallow. We have allowed tyranny to make significant inroads into our government from top to bottom, even at the local level. We do not want to face the only solution that will effectively remove and then stop this insidious creep of despotism. And we are, in essence, two separate countries sharing the same space and borders. One side believes in individual liberty over and above the collective, centralized government authority. The other side believes in ultimate, collectivist power and that the individual must always do as he is told by his slave masters.

Mike Vanderboegh, gun rights blogger and investigative reporter who helped break the story of the Fast and Furious scandal, delivered a speech today in Big Springs, Texas, in the shadow of the Federal Corrections Institution. Vanderboegh quoted Henry on the subject of the whole truth and then launched into his views on the state of affairs in which we find ourselves in the United States. He states that the great divide in America today is between those who believe the government is here to serve the people only, and only by their authority, and those who believe that the people are here to serve the government.

But the only conclusion to which one can arrive is one that involves a hard truth that most Americans cannot or will not hear. Vanderboegh continues,

And that conclusion is that such mutually exclusive worldviews cannot long coexist without one or the other winning out. History tells us -- the Founders would tell us themselves were they here -- that neither side of such a divide will surrender without a fight, which means there WILL be a fight. To think otherwise is to whistle past the graveyard of our own history and that of republics dead, gone and turned to blood-stained dust when they could not overcome similar corruption and collectivist rot from within combined with barbaric attack from without.

We like to think that all our fellow Americans -- even those who plainly state that they are committed to stealing our liberty and our property and attempting to control our very lives -- are merely suffering from differences of opinion that can be overcome by the right mix of persuasion or electoral politics...

It is precisely at that point where most Americans are wrong -- dead wrong. History proves that individuals who wish to make you subservient to the state, seize your property, restrict your free speech, roll back your gun rights, and control your life from top to bottom are in no way open to a different point of view. They are not open to reason. If they were, they would not have committed so many atrocious acts of barbarism in the name of centralized government power. If it were possible to change their minds, it would have happened by now.

But the cold, hard fact is that we have changed all the minds we are going to change. This is it. Your family member, your neighbor, your pastor, priest, or rabbi, your doctor, your business acquaintances who accept the current philosophy embodied by the likes of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid, Charles Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Bernie Sanders, and dozens of others are determined to force you to comply to any government edict no matter what, whether it is legal or Constitutional or not. They are therefore lawless tyrants. They are your enemy.

Can you hear that? Can you understand that? Are you capable of grasping this truth? To acknowledge this truth is not to seek to harm anyone or to treat them as barbarians or to deliberately bait them into arguments. You have to be much smarter than that. But the only way you are going to get anywhere in effectively helping the cause to restore the Constitution is to accept the hard truth that when the stuff hits the fan, these persons who are for the current tyranny are not going to be your friends. They are not on your side. They may act friendly toward you. They may try to assure you that they are not against you, even that they are not out to hurt you or to "take your rights away." Yet they still try to take away your guns and limit your ammunition purchases. They still think you should keep your mouth shut about politics, and they often rant about "taking Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin off the air" and that anyone like them should not be allowed to be on the air at all.

But one thing, according to Vanderboegh, needs to be communicated loud and clear to these collectivists, especially the ones in government. We the people are armed to the hilt and we are not going give up anything else just so you can "feel better." In Connecticut a full 85 percent of gun owners have refused to obey the new gun control laws passed by the state. In New York State, that figure is a whopping 95 percent who refuse to obey the new laws. So far the government leviathan has backed off enforcing these illegal, unconstitutional, and tyrannical laws. Why? Because the leviathan knows that if he tries, he will be met by armed resistance around every corner. He dare not attempt to tread on the Constitutional rights of the people if he values his life. And THAT is why there has been no armed conflict in the northeast resulting from these laws.

Vanderboegh sums it up this way:

...but remember this, in all honesty, that in the end, our liberty is defended by the cold calculation that every criminal, whether of the common class or the Constitutional class, makes when he sizes up a victim, whether that victim be a person walking down the street or a nation at a crossroads -- will my victim resist? Do they have the means to resist? Do they have the WILL to resist? Can I con my victim into putting down what weapons he possesses? If you convince the criminal that he will personally lose more than he gains from such a transaction, he will resign himself to finding another victim, or, the case of the wannabe tyrant, to retiring to play golf in Hawaii. And that's the honest truth about how to defend and restore the Constitution.

We the people, the patriots, the Oathkeepers, the Threepers, etc. WILL resist. Rest assured of that. We have the means to resist. We have the will to resist and will do so till the death. And, the government leviathan has much more to lose, infinitely more to lose, than he has to gain by attempting to force us into compliance with unconstitutional laws.
