A couple of years ago, on or about 08.11.2010, an 11 year old Alyssa Gutierrez defended her home and her life with her mother’s rifle.
Three masked criminal intruders (one of them armed) pried into a suburban Albuquerque, New Mexico home while 11 year old Alyssa Gutierrez’s family were out of the house.
Alyssa, home alone, hid but was soon discovered by the three masked burglars and at that point she ascertained that one of the three burglars was armed. She then ran to her mother’s bedroom and grabbed her mother s riffle. The burglars then fled the house.

Here’s a video describing a similar ‘home invasion’ situation involving a young girl who was also alone in the house at the time of the incident. It occurred on or about October 19, 2012 in Oklahoma, and thankfully also ended happily for this brave young lady!

My recommendation for a small, simple, reliable, lightweight, enclosed-hammer pistol for use in personal protection would be either of the following two S&W .38 special revolvers, or something similar:

Gun rights film project releases powerful trailer
Examiner
David Codrea, Gun Rights Examiner

Excerpt:
The producer of a documentary on the civil right to keep and bear arms has posted a trailer in advance of the film’s release that provides a powerful, timely and resonating counter to the ongoing media frenzy pushing for citizen disarmament edicts.
Kris Koenig, Emmy award-winning producer and writer, and founder of Dead Patriot Films, Inc., which is producing “Assaulted, Civil Rights under Fire,” has been the driving force behind an effort to provide an all-encompassing look at the individual right recognized by the Second Amendment, both from an historical perspective and as a contemporary societal necessity.
“This film will compare the historical aspects of gun control targeting the indigenous tribes of North America and emancipated slaves, through the Jim Crow era to today’s laws that favor rich elitists and denies the rights guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment to the most vulnerable in our society,” the film’s website explains. “This documentary takes a critical look at the original intent of the current guns laws across the nation in contrast with crime and murder statistics before and since their implementation; and compares these laws to those currently proposed by the President and various states.”
