Donald Trump drops the Republican Party and might run for President as an Independent.

Donald Trump has now officially removed himself from the Republican Party.

In New York state Trump has now changed his voter registration to Independent.

According to Trump’s Attorney, Michael Cohen (via the Los Angeles Times), “Mr. Trump has said for almost a year that if he is not satisfied with who the Republican candidate is, he may elect to run as an independent. This change in party affiliation certainly preserves his right to do so, after the finale of ‘The Apprentice’ in May [2012].”

Allow me to first post a link to a pertinent article titled, “Trump, Ego, and the Presidency” by Roger L. Simon, which was posted 12/23/11 on PJ Media:

    http://pjmedia.com/rogerlsimon/2011/12/23/trump-ego-and-the-presidency/?singlepage=true

The article was not too bad, but certainly not ‘great’ IMO. My main reason for linking the article is that I wanted to reproduce the following four posts, which I CONSIDER TO BE REASONABLY INTELLIGENT, from the COMMENTS made to the article.

I will post my own comments at the end, regarding the current topic of ‘Donald Trump possibly running in the 2012 election as an Independent’.

“Great is truth – mightiest of all things.” Yet it does not always prevail. Part of our fascination with the Donald is that he is so outrageously self-confident that it is almost ridiculous – and yet he conveys the truth. We feel that his is not just rhetoric, but that he would actually boldly tackle the problems he defines, maybe accomplish much. He has a record of accomplishment. We believe that he is neither a deceiver nor a self deceiver. When the UN was planning to build, with an estimate of about a billion dollars, Trump approached them with an offer to do the whole job – and do it well – for 300 million and was spurned. I feel assured that he could have indeed delivered on his promise.

Deceit is the vilest of all thing, and Obama is its embodiment. Deceit combined with incompetence is the desstroyer of all things.

Like all honest leaders, Trump builds a trustworthy team. He might talk about a third party, but he is too savvy to fully pursue that course and would wind up running as the GOP candidate, on his terms. An interesting and, I believe, plausible scenario.”

“Trump’s strength is that he is saying, bluntly and eloquently, things that no other potential candidate has the guts to say. Middle America is saying “Yes! Yes!. Yes!” All the others are trying to avoid offending anybody, especially offending “well-meaning” Democrats. Trump is beholden to no one, thrives on offending those he has no respect for, sees no reason to defend his much-publicized past or any changes of mind. The vast Conservative majority is looking for, yearning for, a Champion for the cause. a leader around whom they can rally. He’s the nearest yet, but maybe a Lochinvar will ride into the scene.

Roger has said that he doesn’t agree with the Richard the Lion-Hearted theory but the Junior High School Debate Club we have right now gives little cause for optimism.”

“So, you’re telling me that an American with money is incapable of running for president for noble motives?

Trump is a very able executive and no fool. He sees there’s a debacle in the making, and he’s trying to do something about it the only way he can. The Republicans are presenting absolutely no challenge to Obama; the rabid Left media has created a political atmosphere that precludes sane and honorable people from running for office. (Look what they did to Palin and Cain.) And exactly what do we have left? Hacks, wackos, amateurs, klutzes.

The alarming reality is that Obama is rapidly leading us into fascism and will ratchet up the totalitarianism if re-elected. Your kids will spend the rest of their lives working for the state, intellectual freedom will be lost, and your personal freedoms will be history.

Trump probably doesn’t even want to run, but he sees he has no choice. Somebody’s got to do something. I say give him a chance.

If I may say so, people often have virtues of which we are unaware; they don’t revel themselves except under exceptional circumstances. Think Rudolph Giuliani. Think Winston Churchill during WWII. He thought his career was over, and he had nothing left to contribute. Yet, when the chips were down, the British handed him the reins and he saved the west to fight another day.

Keep an open mind about Trump.”

“I concur with the last two posters that Trump gets a lot more abuse than he deserves. He isn’t exactly my cup of tea policy-wise but at least he is thinking about matters in a way that isn’t pre-programmed by the leftists and their ever eager adversaries, the Republicans, who seem far more interested in the benefits of power than in saving the country. I guess you could say the same about Ron Paul, but Trump actually seems to like the country he lives in, and he doesn’t have that creepy aura that makes you think he wants to pull the wings off butterflies.

And since Trump does actually seem to like the country, I would be very surprised if he attempts an independent candidacy. It is far more likely that he is attempting to to administer some tough love to the republicans, who continue the dance macabre while the marxist in chief rubs his hands in glee.

I just don’t buy the theory that he’s in it only to put a few more sheckles in his pocket. He seems pretty content with the scheckles he already has. He may not be the kind of patriot that people in this forum want, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a patriot at all.

I am in agreement with the concluding statement in the third comment quoted above. That is, I WISH TO KEEP AN OPEN MIND ABOUT TRUMP!

I ALSO THINK HE IS A SINCERE AMERICAN PATRIOT AND I THINK HE IS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE DIRECTION IN WHICH THE USA IS CURRENTLY HEADED!

Trump, born June 14, 1946, is now age 65 and he can look back with pride on an extremely successful business career. He has also had a rewarding, though ‘tumultuous’ family life, at least according to most people’s standards. He has certainly accomplished an amazing amount in his 65 years, but he has to be wondering –‘how can I put to best use the remaining years I have left in life?’ He is very worried about HIS children’s future and HIS country’s future!

I don’t think Trump WANTS to run for the office of President! Regardless, I don’t think the MSM would allow him to win even if he decides to run. The ‘ruling class’ in this country, including both higher echelon Democrats and Republicans, will be pushing Obama and/or Romney for the job. The MSM will comply as they have in the past. They will ‘crucify’ Trump if he attempts to actually run, and he knows this.

It is interesting to note, I believe, that Trump seems to like virtually ALL the current Republican candidates. For example, the following is a rather benign quote concerning Mitt Romney (Obama Lite) from page 185 from his new book, ‘Time to Get Tough’

” Mitt Romney came up to Trump Tower. I had never met Mitt before and, not having met him, maybe I was inclined not to be in his corner. The fact is, when you meet him in person, he is a much different guy than he is in public. He is warm and engaging. The public has to get to know hime better. He gets criticized for changing his opinions, or ‘flip; flopping’, but over a lifetime I’ve seen many people who don’t change and they always get left behind. Smart people learn things, so the chnge their minds. Only stupid people never change their minds.

In the debates, Mitt has been spectacular. He’s sharp, highly educated, and looks like a lpresident. The amazing thing is, no matter how well he does, no matter who endorses im, he seems to stay at about the same numbers in the polls. So far, altnough he remans at the top or close to the top in the polls, he seems frozen at around 25 percent of primary voters. As other candidates drop out of the race, those numbers may break in his favor. Only time will tell.”

I think Trump is very concerned about OBAMA and his facist administration and he is concerned about our incompetent and self-serving CONGRESS!

I believe Trump will keep TALKING about running for POTUS but I would be very surprised if he actually follows through on his threats. He wants HIS views regarding our disasterous trade policies with China, our failing economy, our careening downhill path to totalitarianism etc., as discussed in his new book, to be CORRECTED, starting with the new administration.

Trump may well have been working with the ‘more responsible wing’ of the Democratic party in putting pressure on Obama to release his LFBC on April 27th. This type of action has been hinted at by the concerned Democrat, ‘The White House Insider’ as has been disclosed on ‘The Ulsterman Report’.

I have confidence that Trump will not do ANYTHING, such as running as an Independent and splitting the Republican vote, that would reduce the chances of OBAMA BEING DEFEATED IN NOVEMBER 2012!

Mitt Romney is the only viable choice to remove Obama… that is if Lucas isn’t able to do it before his term is over 🙂
