Epic Fail: Godfather Politics Cites Debunked Harvard Law Review Publication; Naturalized Citizen!?

    Birther Report

    4/15/2015

    Excerpt:

It is astonishing to see so many conservative publishers pimping an article co-authored by a political hack right out of the Obama administration. Not to mention they cite the Naturalization Act of 1790 which is no longer operative.

    Excerpt via Godfather Politics:

Ted Cruz and the Meaning of 'Natural Born Citizen'

There has been a great deal of informed and misinformed discussion on the topic of the meaning of 'natural born citizen.' This has all come into play, first, because of questions surrounding Barack Obama's citizenship, and, two, because of Ted Cruz's dual citizenship (Canada and the United States) and the fact that he was born in Canada when his father was not a United States citizen.

It's a call for consistency. If conservatives were attacking the legitimacy of Obama's presidency because of the 'natural born citizen' requirement, then conservatives should be equally consistent with Ted Cruz.

The best way to interpret the Constitution is to study documents that were written at the time of its drafting, especially if those secondary documents were written by some of the same people who had a hand in the Constitution.

The document that comes to mind is the Naturalization Act of 1790. A careful reading of the document will show that Ted Cruz meets the necessary qualifications of what it means to be a 'natural born citizen.'

The following is from the March 11, 2015 Harvard Review article "On the Meaning of 'Natural Born Citizen'" by Neal Katyal and Paul Clement: [...] Godfather Politics.

I left the following comment at the GP article:

    Epic fail.

Citing an article written by two political hacks one being from the Obama admin is funny.

First off the "Naturalization Act of 1790" was negated five years later and the "natural born Citizen" wording was removed from the "Naturalization Act of 1795"...

    Wonder why?

Notice the two hacks who authored the HLR publication failed to mention that important and critical fact?

Regardless of the wording they admit Cruz is at the very least a "naturalized" citizen and not a "natural born Citizen" as required in Article II by just claiming Cruz's citizen status is based on the "NATURALIZATION" Act...

Reality check: All U.S. presidents and vice-presidents eligible after the Article II grandfather clause were all born on U.S. soil to two U.S. citizen parentS.

Give it up. Cruz is just as ineligible as Obama is... No matter where they were born.

If you don't like the Article II "natural born Citizen" requirement then seek to have it amended/repealed the proper way. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Even the U.S. State Department's own manual on citizenship abroad refutes the the HLR publication by the two political hacks >>> http://www.birtherreport.com/2015/03...rvard-law.html

Even anti-Birther Ann Coulter says Cruz may not be constitutionally eligible to be POTUS >>> http://www.birtherreport.com/2015/04...lter-goes.html

Many of the commenters at Godfather Politics are not buying the propaganda piece put out under the HLR.

    And rightly so...

Birther Report note: One of the main reasons for my trip to D.C. was to confront one of the co-authors of the Harvard Law Review publication and get him on the record explaining the propaganda piece.

    More on that later...
