'Black box signals' raise hope of finding MH370 in days – Malaysian minister

Hishammuddin Hussein cautiously hopeful of positive developments in hunt for plane 'in next few days, if not hours'

    The Guardian

    Excerpt:

The hunt for the missing flight MH370 could see positive developments "in the next few days, if not hours", Malaysia's transport minister has said after an Australian vessel twice detected signals consistent with transmissions from the beacons on a black box.

Hishammuddin Hussein told reporters in Kuala Lumpur he was "cautiously hopeful" of good news in the international search for MH370, now in its 31st day. But he stressed it was not yet possible to confirm a link to the missing plane.

The aircraft's flight data and cockpit voice recorders are certified to emit signals for just 30 days after a crash, although experts say they might continue to do so for up to two weeks more.

Earlier, the Australian official overseeing co-ordination of the search in the southern Indian ocean described the latest information from the Ocean Shield as "very encouraging".

Angus Houston, head of the joint agency co-ordination centre, said the naval vessel had twice detected a signal in the northern part of the search area – first for two hours and 20 minutes, and then for 13 minutes. The vessel is continuing to monitor the area to relocate the signal.

"I can report some very encouraging information which has unfolded over the last 24 hours. The towed pinger locator deployed from the Australian vessel Ocean Shield has detected signals," he said.

"Significantly, this would be consistent with transmissions from both the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder."

The Beijing-bound flight vanished early on 8 March, shortly after taking off from Malaysia, with 227 passengers and 12 crew. Investigators believe it was diverted from its course deliberately and flew on for hours.

Houston gave credit to the work of the investigators in Kuala Lumpur in establishing the search area. They have analysed the plane's "handshakes" with satellites, radar evidence of parts of its early course and other technical information such as how long it would take the Boeing 777 to burn fuel at various speeds.

He added it would take days and "a lot of difficult, painstaking work" to confirm the crash site had been found, then attempting to relocate the signal and using it to narrow the search area, and then using equipment to seek wreckage.

Diego Garcia Island: Does Malaysian flight 370 mystery lead to remote base?

      Examiner

Roz Zurko, Hartford Top News Examiner
      4/7/2014

      Excerpt:

Does Diego Garcia Island hold the answers to what happened to the missing Malaysian Flight 370? Diego Garcia Island, a lonely remote island in the middle of nowhere in the Indian Ocean is home to a U.S. Naval base and it does have a landing strip big enough to accommodate a Boeing 777 for landing, according to the Courier Mail on April 6.

Is it a coincidence that the missing Flight 370’s captain had the Diego Garcia Island runway in his flight simulator? The FBI reported that this was one of the flight scenarios programed into the homemade simulator in the captain’s home.

Is this report a rumor, or did the American passenger Phillip Wood managed to send an iPhone text message when the plane first went missing? In the reports circulating online, he reportedly stated that he was a passenger on MH370 and he is being held hostage by “unknown military personal.”

The reports say that he sent the coordinates of his location and they showed that they were from an area just a few miles off the location of Diego Garcia Island. In his message he said he is being kept in a cell by himself and he is in a state of confusion and possibly drugged.

The reports continue saying that he was able to conceal his cellphone, as he may have had two, one for personal use and another for his work with IBM. If hijackers had the passengers dump their cell phones in a bag, it would stand to reason if he had two, he could keep one concealed down his pants, as this rumor suggests.

It was confirmed by the missing flight investigators that the plane purposely flew below the radar, as it wasn’t detected going in this direction over the Indian Ocean. The video above explains how Flight 370 flying below the radar was possible. American blogger Jim Stone is all over this theory on his website. Apparently critics say that Phillip Wood could not get cell phone service from that remote location.

Stone reminds folks that Woods works for IBM and travels the world. His cell phone would more than likely pickup service in that spot. National Geographic sells a SIM card for Diego Garcia, so it is not without communication possibilities.

Why would anyone want to take the plane and the passengers? The theory explaining this has to do with the 20 top employees from Freescale Semiconductor Inc. on the flight. They had worked on a semiconductor and were waiting for a patent and now that they are gone, the patent goes to one man, billionaire Jacob Rothschild.

Jim Stone reports that there were five people holding this microchip patent and if four of them are gone on the plane, that leaves one owner. Suggesting the disappearance of this plane is to benefit Rothschild is a bit ridiculous because he is already a billionaire many times over, suggests Stone.

There could be another reason the employees were taken. It could be that some government wanted to get their hands on the knowledge held by the 20 top employees to have this microchip built for some reason.

The company’s website states it has 17,000 employees worldwide and they state they are a world leader in embedded processing solutions. The microprocessors and sensors they develop are used in a variety of fields.

Were these employees the reason the plane was possibly hijacked? Do they have the knowledge that folks in high places need? Again some of them were the people who created and developed this embedded technology, which could be used in many ways.

These are the conspiracy theories running rampant today. These theories seem to be gaining more notoriety since the reports that the pilot’s flight simulator was programed with Diego Garcia’s runway.

Governments are intentionally misleading us’ on Malaysia plane – BBC News

        http://youtu.be/S1zNy-5ESos

Excellent video interview with Philip Woods' girlfriend Sarah Bajc. She come across as an intelligent and level-headed individual. She seems like a critical and analytical thinker.

Philip Woods is a passenger on MH370. His girlfriend believes the he could still be alive and that the airplane could have been taken, and that may have never crashed.

Source Alleges Flight 370 Had Military Escort, is Intact and Passengers are Alive

            Freedom Outpost

            Dean Garrison
            4/5/2014

            Excerpt:

On Monday, I reported that a transmission and picture from Philip Wood's cell phone was allegedly sent from Diego Garcia Naval & Intelligence Base and received by an internet forum. The transmission was, in fact, traced back to this area of the Indian Ocean. It clearly could have been some type of forgery, but that doesn't mean that it was. My contention then, and now, is that the scenario was unlikely, though possible.

I have to believe that someone knows what happened to that plane. In 2014, our technology is so advanced that it is hard to imagine that a Boeing 777 could simply disappear.

Now Sarah Bajc, partner of Philip Wood, has publicly stated that she believes the flight is still intact and that the passengers are alive. She claims that a source revealed to her that this plane had a military escort and she, like many of us, believes that the whole story is not being told.

The credibility of her source is as questionable as anything else we have heard about Malaysian Flight 370. However, if true, the escort of fighter jets might bring some other possibilities into play. If the plane had an escort then a scenario of it landing at Diego Garcia would seem to make more sense.

Why Might This Plane Have an Escort?

Conspiracy theories abound, and we must take them all with the proverbial grain of salt. However, there is a growing consensus that this disappearance, crash or hijacking centered on a group of important individuals that worked for Freescale Semiconductor.

If this plane did carry people that were working on sensitive technology, then a military escort would seem to be prudent. The Voice of Russia reports:

MH370 could have been kidnapped to get to the technical brain-trust on board – 20 Freescale Semiconductor employees travelling to China. Freescale attracted attention because it is a Texas-based technology firm that develops components for hi-tech weapons systems and aircraft navigation among other things.

Interestingly, that leading innovative company has been oddly unwilling to provide information on the missing people. Only the nationalities of the employees were made public: 12 of them were from Malaysia and eight from China. However, Freescale has persistently declined to release their identities. "Out of respect for the families' privacy during this difficult time, we will not be releasing the names of the employees who were on board the flight at this time," Freescale spokeswoman Jacey Zuniga said.

The U.K.-based Express also reported this angle of the story:

Freescale Semiconductor, which makes powerful microchips for industries including defence, released the powerful new products to the American market on March 3.

Five days later, Flight MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing with 239 people on board including 20 working for Freescale.

Twelve were from Malaysia, while eight were Chinese nationals.

Freescale's spokesman Mitch Haws has said: "These were all people with a lot of experience and technical background and they were very important people.

"It's definitely a loss for the company."Freescale's shareholders include the Carlyle Group of private equity investors whose past advisers have included ex-US president George Bush Sr and former British Prime Minister John Major.

Carlyle's previous heavyweight clients include the Saudi Binladin Group, the construction firm owned by the family of Osama bin Laden.

Maldives island residents report sighting of 'low flying jet'

              Haveeru Online

              Farah Ahmed and Ahmed Naif
              3/18/2014

              Excerpt:

Residents of the remote Maldives island of Kuda Huvadhoo in Dhaal Atoll have reported seeing a "low flying jumbo jet" on the morning of the disappearance of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

Whilst the disappearance of the Boeing 777 jet, carrying 239 passengers has left the whole world in bewilderment, several residents of Kuda Huvadhoo told Haveeru on Tuesday that they saw a "low flying jumbo jet" at around 6:15am on March 8.

They said that it was a white aircraft, with red stripes across it – which is what the Malaysia Airlines flights typically look like.

Eyewitnesses from the Kuda Huvadhoo concurred that the aeroplane was travelling North to South-East, towards the Southern tip of the Maldives – Addu. They also noted the incredibly loud noise that the flight made when it flew over the island.

"I've never seen a jet flying so low over our island before. We've seen seaplanes, but I'm sure that this was not one of those. I could even make out the doors on the plane clearly," said an eyewitness.

"It's not just me either, several other residents have reported seeing the exact same thing. Some people got out of their houses to see what was causing the tremendous noise too."

Mohamed Zaheem, the Island Councilor of Kuda Huvadhoo, said that the residents of the island had spoken about the incident.

A local aviation expert told Haveeru that it is "likely" for MH370 to have flown over the Maldives. The possibility of any aircraft flying over the island at the reported time is extremely low, the expert added.

The Malaysia airlines jet disappeared on March 8 with 239 people on board after taking off from Kuala Lumpur bound for Beijing. Investigators say it was deliberately diverted off course.

BREAKING: Lt. Gen. McInerney Says #MH370 Is In Pakistan – ‘I Got A Source That Confirmed It Yesterday’

                Gateway Pundit

                Jim Hoft
                3/22/2014

                Excerpt:

Retired Lt. General Thomas McInerney was on America’s News HQ today to once again discuss his theory that missing flight MH370 flew to Pakistan.

Langley Intelligence Group Intel Group released a second report Friday on the missing plane.
As the search for Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 drags on without a trace of wreckage at sea, the likelihood of foul play looms larger. One country keeps rising to the top of the list of suspects: Pakistan.

Ten days after the flight vanished, LIGNET learned that engineers at Boeing, the plane’s manufacturer, believed the missing aircraft was on the ground in Pakistan. For several reasons, including al-Qaeda’s presence there, historical attack patterns, corruption, weakness and terrorist sympathies at the highest levels inside Pakistan, that hunch may be right.

Lt. Gen. McInerney discussed why the plane flew to Pakistan.

“LIGNET put out a report, substantiated yesterday, that there sources got their information from Boeing sources, which is covert. Not that they got their information from the Boeing Company because they’re involved in the investigation, that the airplane was in Pakistan. That was confirmed by LIGNET on Monday and I got another source at LIGNET that confirmed it yesterday… I do believe that those people in Pakistan, in the ISI, those people who knew where Osama Bin Laden was and didn’t tell us. I believe those same elements could be involved with getting that airplane into a Pakistan air force base.”

                  EDITORIAL:

When in doubt regarding a puzzle, I often find it helpful to let Occam's tracking dog, $Cui Bono, sniff out the simplest and most logical path to the answer. That is: (1) try to keep the explanation simple and (2) determine who most benefits from the outcome.

This method certainly does not always lead to the correct answer but it is usually a good place to start focusing one's attention.

Employing the above technique, using what little information I now know, I think it likely that the Boeing 777 on Flight MH370 crashed somewhere in the Indian Ocean with loss of life to the crew and all passengers.

I think the most logical reason the crash occurred is closely related to the thoughts being expressed by various bloggers concerning the Freescale Semiconductor employee passengers, their valuable patents, and where the money ends up with these patent holders dead.

If this is the case, then the plane, crew and other passengers on the flight can be considered collateral damage. Very sad!

I think the second most likely reason the crash occurred was due simply to the lone actions of the mentally unstable pilot, who chose to end his life in this bizarre and tragic way.

I think it unlikely the plane was hijacked and flown the great distance to some remote area of Pakistan or Afghanistan. The plane could not have been flown this far, based on its last known location, without refueling, which would have added further complications.

Furthermore, I consider it especially unlikely the plane landed, perhaps with a military escort, on Diego Garcia.

                  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diego_Garcia

Diego Garcia is a very large, sophisticated military base with high populations of both civilian and military, COMMUNICATION-SAVY personnel.
"Diego Garcia is home to 16 separate commands. The base accommodates 360 military personnel, 1,800 base operation services contractor (BOSC) staff, 300 mariners (MSC), 220 civilians and 80 overseas government employees. ...The base has Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQ), Bachelor Officer Quarters (BOQ) and unaccompanied personnel housing units to accommodate the troops assigned to it....It also features a galley, officers club, branch health and medical clinics, post office and NSF chapel. The recreation facilities offered are a swimming pool, a fitness centre, massage therapy, a bowling centre, and an outdoor theatre."

                  http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/diego-garcia/

Surely, some doctor, janitor, barber, sewage treatment plant operator, cook, etc. employed at the base, with contacts on the mainland, WOULD HAVE HEARD AND REPORTED SOMETHING regarding the missing jet! Diego Garcia is NOT some top secret, locked-down, totally restricted-access facility.

IMO, a missing Boeing 777 jumbo jet, featured prominently and repeatedly in current world news reports, would not have been able to land with all its passengerson the small island of Diego Garcia and remain there unreported by SOMEONE for OVER A MONTH'S TIME.

It's interesting and SUSPICIOUS that both the (1) phone text message and photo REPORTEDLY RECEIVED from Philip Wood with coordinates implicating Diego Garcia and (2) a REPORT of the sighting of a jumbo jet heading in the direction of Diego Garcia by 'natives' on the Maldives occurred on the SAME DATE, MARCH 18th, a full 10 days after the initiation of the flight.

                  http://humansarefree.com/2014/04/bre...passenger.html

                  http://www.haveeru.com.mv/news/54062

The 'Diego Garcia' angle to this puzzle sounds to me like DISINFORMATION, with the intent of wasting time and causing confusion.

I think LOTS of involved folks probably know exactly what happened to Flight MH370 but they have no intention of revealing what they know.

It will be interesting to see what new information is brought forward concerning this interesting and puzzling story. I will be happy to revise my current speculations regarding the matter if presented with convincing facts in conflict to what I now know.

Malaysia Airlines in Pakistan Rumor: Russian Newspaper Says Flight MH 370 in Kandahar, Name of Terrorist is ‘Hitch’

                    Epoch Times

                    Jack Phillips
                    4/8/2014

                    Excerpt:

A Russian newspaper is saying that Malaysia Airlines Flight MH 370 is in Kandahar Province, located in Pakistan near the Afghanistan border, but it offers anonymous, dubious sources.

The Moskovsky Komsomolets paper says “an anonymous source in the intelligence agencies” in Russia said that the missing plane’s “pilots are not guilty.”

“Flight MH 370 Malaysia Airlines missing on March 8th with 239 passengers was hijacked. Pilots are not guilty, the plane was hijacked by unknown terrorists. We know that the name of the terrorist who gave instructions to pilots is ‘Hitch’. The plane is in Afghanistan not far from Kandahar near the border with Pakistan,” claims the newspaper–which has a circulation of about 1.1 million.

It added: “Plane is on the road near the mountain range, he has a broken wing. Maybe he made a hard landing. All passengers survived, they live in shacks almost without food.”

The sources or the “intelligence agencies” in the article were not named.

It then said that “experts” on the plane were taken into a bunker in Pakistan. “Twenty Asian specialists were captured. There is one japanese among them,” it said, possibly referring to employees with the Freescale Semiconductor firm.

However, the newspaper’s claims have not been echoed in mainstream media outlets in the United States or around the world.

Malaysian authorities have said that the plane disappeared in the Indian Ocean, and there’s a massive search team looking for debris or signs of the aircraft.

The Independent newspaper on March 16–about a week after the plane went missing–explored rumors that the plane flew into an “area controlled by [the] Taliban.”

“The missing Malaysian airlines flight MH370 may have been deliberately flown under the radar to Taliban-controlled bases on the border of Afghanistan, it has emerged, as authorities said that the final message sent from the cockpit came after one of the jet’s communications systems had already been switched off,” the Independent wrote.

But this was days before Malaysian officials concluded that the plane went missing somewhere in the Indian Ocean.

MH370 search area reduced after two more pings heard

Australian official says since Ocean Shield vessel has reacquired signal he is 'optimistic' plane will be found soon

                      The Guardian

                      Paul Farrell
                      4/9/2014

                      Excerpt:

The search area for the missing Malaysia airlines flight MH370 has been drastically reduced after two further detections of pings consistent with those of a black box from a plane late on Tuesday.

The head of Australia’s Joint Agency Co-ordination Centre, Angus Houston, said on Wednesday the Australian defence vessel Ocean Shield had detected two further pings on Tuesday – one in the afternoon and one in the late evening – that had allowed the search area to be further refined to 75,000 sq km. He said he was “optimistic” the plane would be found soon.

“I can now tell you that Ocean Shield has been able to reacquire the signals on two further occasions; late yesterday afternoon and late last night,” Houston said.

The smaller area would make the task far more manageable and would allow searchers to “plan much tighter search patterns”.

“Ocean Shield is now searching a reduced and much more manageable search area on the ocean floor,” he said.

“I believe we are searching in the right area but we need to identity wreckage to be sure that this is the final resting place of MH370.”

The plane has been missing for more than a month and is believed to have crashed in the Indian Ocean, claiming the lives of all 239 passengers on board.

Houston said the Ocean Shield would continue searching the area before launching the submersible underwater vehicle while the batteries of the black boxes are still believed to be active. The detections suggest at least one of the boxes is still transmitting, but that “they will very shortly fail”.

“We are not yet at the point of deploying the autonomous underwater vehicle … it is important to note that Ocean Shield can search six times the amount of area with the towed pinger locator than can be done with the sonar on the autonomous underwater vehicle,” he said.

On Monday it was revealed that the Ocean Shield had detected two pings that were believed to be consistent with frequencies from a black box. Houston said on Wednesday the Australian Joint Acoustic Analysis Centre had analysed the two earlier pings detected by the Ocean Shield and found could have come from the plane.

“The analysis determined that a very stable ... signal was detected at 33.331 kHz and that it consistently pulsed,” he said.

“They therefore assessed that the signal was not of natural origin and was likely sourced from specific electronic equipment … consistent with a flight data recorder.

                        Excerpt:

More than a month after Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, the search for the plane continued and family members of the passengers on board are still searching for answers. Tuesday evening, CNN’s Erin Burnett spoke to Sarah Bajc, partner of Philip Wood, one of the three Americans on board the plane. Bajc explained why she refuses to believe the general consensus that the plane crashed and is currently somewhere at the bottom of the Indian Ocean.

“I think the general perception amongst the families is that the timing of these pings is awfully coincidental with the batteries wearing out,” Bajc said of the recently-detected signal that has searchers narrowing in on a more specific area of the ocean. “So all of us pretty well agree that until there is the bulk of the plane and the bulk of the bodies discovered and a black box intact, we won’t believe that it’s final evidence.”

Bajc maintained what she had previously stated about her belief that the plane is still “intact,” saying, “I still believe it because there isn’t any evidence to the contrary. And actually, most of the circumstantial evidence I believe points towards an abduction of this plane.” She added, “I don’t know why and I don’t know by who, but I’m convinced that that plane was taken by somebody.”

She went on to discount the “investigative skills” of the authorities who say they have cleared the other passengers and crew members on board of having any indication or motive to hijack the plane. Asked by Burnett how she will handle the possibility that the plane is never found, Bajc said, “That’s the scariest option of all, because I think if you’re sure someone has died, you can grieve properly and you can move on. But I’m not willing to move on.”

At the end of the segment, Bajc said she hoped her media appearances might not only reach Wood if he’s still alive out there somewhere but also “urge some bystander who has been keeping their mouth quiet to come forward with something.”

UPDATE 4/10/2014: Missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370: Live updates as search resumes following detection of two MORE underwater 'pings'

Malaysia's acting transport minister has defended the investigation in an interview for BBC News, his first with a major Western broadcaster.

Hishammuddin Hussein said Malaysia had "nothing to hide" about the disappearance of MH370.

Some conspiracy theorists believe the plane was hijacked and taken to the US military base in Diego Garcia.

Many of the relatives cling to hope that their family members on board the missing flight are still alive.

They also believe Malaysia is not being honets about its investigation.

Mr Hussein was "cautious" over the audio signals picked up by search teams.

"We've been following all sorts of leads from the South China Sea to the Straits of Malacca to the Andaman Sea," he told the BBC.

He added: "We have to be cautious because the families' emotions are still very raw and I've been through this rollercoaster ride."

                          3:08 pm

Search teams looking for Flight MH370 have detected another possible signal from a black box recorder, the fifth since Saturday.

Retired Lt Col. Angus Houston, who is co-ordinating the search, confirmed a "possible signal" but data would be analysed over night.

Here is a handy live mapping sight which shows the positions of vessels looking for missing Flight MH370 in the search zone in the southern Indian Ocean.

More 'pings' raise hopes that Flight MH370 will be found

                            Dallas News

                            FROM WIRE REPORTS
                            4/9/2014 9:16 PM

PERTH, Australia — Planes and ships hunting for the missing Malaysian jetliner zeroed in on a targeted patch of the Indian Ocean on Thursday, after a navy ship picked up underwater signals that are consistent with a plane’s black box.

Thursday’s search zone was the smallest yet in the monthlong search for Flight MH370 — 22,364 square miles of ocean — and comes a day after the Australian official in charge of the search expressed hope that crews were closing in on the “final resting place” of the vanished jet.

Angus Houston, who is coordinating the search off Australia’s west coast, said Wednesday that equipment on the Australian vessel Ocean Shield had picked up two sounds from deep below the surface on Tuesday, and an analysis of two other sounds detected in the same general area on Saturday showed they were consistent with a plane’s flight recorders, or “black boxes.”

“I’m now optimistic that we will find the aircraft, or what is left of the aircraft, in the not-too-distant future,” Houston said Wednesday.

No further sounds had been picked up overnight, Houston’s search coordination center said Thursday. But the Ocean Shield was continuing its hunt, slowly dragging a U.S. navy pinger locator through the ocean’s depths, hoping to find the signal again and get a more specific fix on its location.

Is Missing Plane MH370 at Diego Garcia?

                              Excerpt:

Is the missing Malaysian Airlines plane MH370, a Boeing 777, being held at a remote island called Diego Garcia?

The claim appears to have originated on the internet forum 4chan, unfortunately the original post has been removed by 4chan admins, however a mirror website called 4plebs, has a copy of the original post.

The original poster claims to be someone called Philip Wood, an IBM employee claiming to be a victim of the MH370 disappearance, that has been able to hide his phone for 10 days, take a photo and post it onto 4chan, while blindfolded.

The users on 4chan are all referred to as Anonymous, however, the image provides a bit more information. Images taken on devices such as an iPhone can bind GPS location information into an image file automatically, this information is Exif, other information such as the date and time that the image was taken can also be stored within the image file. A first look at the information provided by the image suggests the image was taken on the remote island of Diego Garcia. (see below)

                              diegotable

The data suggests the image was taken with an iPhone 5, at the given coordinates. 7° 18′ 58.3″ South, 72° 25′ 35.6″ East ( -7.316197, 72.426544 ). Click here to see this location on a map.

diegobuilding-229x300By zooming into the building using the map we can see that it is titled PACAF (Pacific Airforce) AGE (Aircraft Ground Equipment) Support Facility.

An admission from a senior American official revealed a secret prison located at Diego Garcia, but didn’t state which building was used.

Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, the pilot of MH370, has a home-built flight simulator. Files containing records of simulations carried out on the flight simulator were deleted on February 3rd, which he may have used to practice landing at Diego Garcia.

Members at the forum Metabunk.org took a closer look at the Exif data, they not only found that the Exif data was easy to edit, but that the image had in fact been made or edited with Picasa, not an iPhone. It would appear that the image is just a hoax. -
                              (bold and color emphasis added)

US officials have ruled out the possibility. “I’ll rule that one out,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters yesterday when asked about such news reports appearing mainly in the Chinese press.

But could the plane still be there?

The Boeing 777 has a wingspan of 60.9m, and a length of 73.9m. The map of Diego Garcia shows some B-52H Stratofortress planes, which have a wingspan of 56m and a length of 49m. There are no buildings on the map large enough to house a 777. So if the plane is on the island, it should be viewable by satellite.
